People often ask me where “Shawesome” came from… 🩷🩵

At first, it was just a nickname.

But over the years, it became something so much bigger.

It became a reminder that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be pretty amazing.

“Shawesome isn’t about having a perfect life…it’s about finding joy in the one you’re living.”

This evolves into The Shawesome Method that chooses:

✨ Confidence over comparison.
✨ Comfort over perfection.
✨ Courage through life’s challenges.
✨ Community over doing life alone.

Those four words have become the foundation of how I try to live each day.

🏈🔥 FIRST VARSITY TOUCHDOWN FOR #11!!! 🔥🏈

Friday Night Lights (last week) brought a moment we’ve been waiting for!!! 🥹❤️

Cooper caught his FIRST TOUCHDOWN of his junior season, putting the Raptors up 21–0 against Pine Creek! 🙌🏈

And YESSSS… this mama was just a LITTLE excited!!! 😂📣

There’s something special about watching your kid put in the work week after week and then seeing those moments when it all comes together on the field.

From blocking and battling in the trenches to making plays on both sides of the ball, Cooper continues to grow, learn, and give everything he’s got.

And this time… HE FOUND THE END ZONE!!! 🏈🔥

Another team WIN and a milestone we’ll remember!

(Almost) 40 YEARS STRONG. AND STILL WALKING. 💙🩷🩵

Yesterday was the Rocky Mountain Breakthrough T1D Walk, an event that fills my heart every single year.

Most years, you’ll find me working the event, connecting with families, sharing diabetes technology, and celebrating this incredible community.🩵🩷

But there’s one tradition I never miss.

💙 The Champions Walk.🙌🙌

For years, I’ve proudly carried the T1D Warriors 21+ Years sign.

But this year, holding that sign felt a little different.

Because in just ONE MONTH…

11•14•26 marks my 40th DIAVERSARY! 💙🎉

FOUR DECADES living with Type 1 diabetes.

Four decades of highs, lows, challenges, victories, and incredible advances in diabetes care.

And somewhere along the way, the disease I never asked for became part of the purpose I absolutely love.

Being a nurse. A diabetes educator. Working in diabetes technology. Volunteering at diabetes camp for 23 years. Helping families. Encouraging others. Building lifelong friendships.

Diabetes has challenged me in ways I never imagined, but it has also connected me with some of the most incredible people.

And for that, I am grateful. 🙏💙

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, and November 14th is World Diabetes Day.

This year, those dates carry a little extra meaning for me.

40 years ago, my life changed forever.

But diabetes never stopped me from building a beautiful life filled with faith, family, friendships, adventures, and PURPOSE.

Yesterday, I walked for the little girl diagnosed in 1986 who had no idea what her future would hold.🥹

I walked for every child and family navigating a new diagnosis.🥹

I walked for the friends I’ve made along the way.🥹

And I walked with HOPE for a future where Type 1 diabetes no longer exists.🥹

💙 40 years of living with T1D.
💙 40 years of learning and growing.
💙 40 years of showing up.

And I’m not done yet!

Here’s to the next chapter, the breakthroughs ahead, and continuing to live life to the fullest.

T1D is part of my story. But it will never be my whole story. 🩵
