New mini zine drop :-) I love october!

I love and miss making art. NYCC was absolutely inspiring to see amazing creators come together in such a profound way. Here’s a cute lil project i did recently and am hoping to jump back on the horse and get some larger in-progress projects completed. Some things have spent way too long on the back burner and it’s time to cook.

The Weeping Willow (2026)

Neon demon, holy mountain!
Earth shatters, rumbles, glows.
Alone atop its rocky peaks
stands the tall weeping willow.

#Sketch and first stanza for a mini #poetry #zine i’ve been making in between other projects!

Some inked panels from my upcoming comic project THE CITY AT THE END OF THE WORLD (working title) coming in HOT! This project has been on my mind for at least two years, and after 8 months of sketching and drawing, I have ONE page left to ink!

A full page panel from my upcoming comic project (still has no name i guess, lol) ... I’m almost ready to ink the whole issue! Creating the pencil spreads has been quite a journey but i’m so excited to see it all come together and share with others :) by @michellesilva.studio

Untitled, 2024

While this sketch feels unfinished to me, I’ve always liked this composition, and was having fun playing with brushes to create lighting effects. Eventually I would like to go back in and add fine details, but for now, i’ll share as is.

I’ve been working on a comic book for a couple months now and am excited to share some sketches! I wrote the story last year while traveling on a bus from NYC to visit my sister in DC. The words came to me easily and over time I have now written five chapters, with more to come.

The story follows two children, set out on an ambitious journey through treacherous conditions, many years after the world has ended. They begin here, with this scene of playing video games hooked up to an old television set, blending technologies of different eras to emphasize the loss of time. Their perception of reality will be distorted and corrupted as they intertwine themselves with the unknown technology.

I’m having so much fun working on this project— it’s been evolving as I work on and it’s so cool to watch my skills build! Keep an eye out because i’ll be posting more and hope to have the full project done soon!

Watching the sun burn, 2024

I drew this last year as part of a mini zine, a folded strip of drawings with no start and no finish. This work always begins and ends with the main character watching the sun burn so bright, she is engulfed by its flames. The bright light glimmers in her eyes with both joy and sadness as the world comes to an end.
