Michaela Hammond co-hosted our Season 5 launch dinner, so she was part of this community before she ever sat down at the She Pivots mic. Bringing women together comes naturally to her.

After this conversation, I understand where she gets it.

Michaela grew up spending feast days at her proud Native American family’s home Pueblo, San Felipe with her grandma’s potato salad, red and green chile, and a front door open to literally anyone who walked in
The culture of bringing people together was instilled in her early.

She also grew up with two goals pinned to her bulletin board: play sports (she played Volleyball at NYU), and work in sports. (Thank you, Jerry Maguire.)

And she made it. She took an unpaid internship on one condition: they cover her MetroCard. She went on to work with Derek Jeter and Blake Griffin, and she even talked a room full of people into letting Blake run around fake-naked on Broad City.

Then one afternoon a client got traded with zero warning. She ended up crying at her desk, asking herself if this was still what she wanted.

That question eventually led her to co-found @offball, a media company all about the culture and fandom of sports.

We get into what it’s like to shift your goals away from what you thought you wanted, the importance of fandom, and how OffBall is approaching sports and culture a little differently.

Comment “OFFBALL” and I’ll send the episode straight to your DMs!

a day and weekend filled with magic. i spent the majority of my adult life never believing this day would come for me - too busy having fun with my career, my friends and family, and i was partly a cynic, too. love with a capital L - not for me.

meeting brendon changed all of that. he matched my energy from day one and we helped each other see beyond our preconceived notions of what love marriage and partnership can be. there’s no one id rather tackle life with. there’s no one ill have more fun with.

we spent the weekend savoring each moment with our family and friends. i could not imagine a better way to usher us into our next chapter. i am eternally grateful.

thank you babe @brendonhudson_ for turning me into a lover girl ✨✨
