Being a sports fan isn’t just about what happens on the court. (Or the field. Or the 18th green.)

Michaela Hammond, co-founder of @offball, says the score is only part of the story. A huge part of why sports are important is the culture: the comeback, the player everyone loves, the tunnel fit, the stories behind the match.

That’s what pulls fans into the game before they even know the rules.

Sports are one of the few things left that get everyone in the room excited about the same thing.

Comment CULTURE and I’ll send you the full episode 🎧

Grateful to @lancepee and @ruth4reel for the opportunity to curate three panels at this year’s @advertisingweek, bringing together good friends and industry titans who are helping shape the future of sports, media, fashion, and culture.

There’s something special about being able to share the stage with people you genuinely admire and respect, and create space for meaningful conversations and perspectives.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this experience so memorable! 🙏🏾

Spoke at Advertising Week in New York @advertisingweek , sharing my perspective as the founder and creative director of Ru by Rupal alongside @keshamcleod , @michhammond1 , and @chadavery1 , with @iamrjharris moderating.

“The Tunnel Is the Runway: How Style Became Sports’ Most Powerful Storyline.”

We talked about how the crossover between fashion and sports is creating more room for brands to be present in major partnerships. The athlete-to-entrepreneur pipeline makes so much sense—building a business takes the same perseverance, discipline, and repeated practice that athletes bring to their sport.

With more media attention on this crossover than ever, brands and athletes have more room to show their true personalities. Fashion goes beyond lifestyle wear and can cross into athletics. Athletes are more than athletes, and fashion gives them another way to express who they are.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in our conversation, and a special thank you to @iamrjharris for including me on this panel!

Michaela Hammond co-hosted our Season 5 launch dinner, so she was part of this community before she ever sat down at the She Pivots mic. Bringing women together comes naturally to her.

After this conversation, I understand where she gets it.

Michaela grew up spending feast days at her proud Native American family’s home Pueblo, San Felipe with her grandma’s potato salad, red and green chile, and a front door open to literally anyone who walked in
The culture of bringing people together was instilled in her early.

She also grew up with two goals pinned to her bulletin board: play sports (she played Volleyball at NYU), and work in sports. (Thank you, Jerry Maguire.)

And she made it. She took an unpaid internship on one condition: they cover her MetroCard. She went on to work with Derek Jeter and Blake Griffin, and she even talked a room full of people into letting Blake run around fake-naked on Broad City.

Then one afternoon a client got traded with zero warning. She ended up crying at her desk, asking herself if this was still what she wanted.

That question eventually led her to co-found @offball, a media company all about the culture and fandom of sports.

We get into what it’s like to shift your goals away from what you thought you wanted, the importance of fandom, and how OffBall is approaching sports and culture a little differently.

Comment “OFFBALL” and I’ll send the episode straight to your DMs!

2026 Game 100 ➡️ 2021 Game 1

through every up, down, win, loss, it’s been them. 100 regular season games! (and like 100 challenge cup games somewhere along the way lol). But I’m so grateful for every hand that has lifted me up throughout my career. my friends and family have always been my rocks, and have given me a lot of strength to be brave and chase this remarkable journey. I love what I get to do. And I hope I can do it for a lot longer. For now, I’ll just enjoy the 💯 club 💛

Happy Women’s Equality Day. Can we finally retire the idea that “equal” means “the same”?

For too long, equality for women has meant asking women to excel inside systems that were built for someone else.

After more than 150 conversations with trailblazing, culture-shifting, inspiring women about their pivots, I keep landing on something that’s true for most of them:

They were set up to fail.

There’s an opportunity to be recognized here, if we can take advantage of it. We don’t have to squeeze women into the way things were done before. We get to build up culture, on purpose, with women in mind.

You can see it in women’s sports, where the answer isn’t copying the mens game, but learning from it and making it work better for women. And you can see it when we treat caregiving as a responsibility for both parents.

When we design for women, we don’t only lift up women. We have the opportunity to build something that’s better for everyone.

So tell me: if you could redesign one system to actually work for women, what would you change? 👇

Happy birthday my Kell Bell @spicey9814. It’s been twelve years since we walked into that Ithaca apartment as strangers, unpacked our things, and immediately became best friends only to celebrate our birthdays together a few days later. The “Adventures of Kell Bell and A” have been a somewhat necessary addition to my life and I can’t wait to continue nonsensically scream talking to you for the rest of our days. Two years, two days forever.
