🎓 From Montreal to Cambridge!

I’m excited to share that this week marks my first week on campus at Harvard University, where I am pursuing a Master of Education in Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Thank you to my family, extended family, friends, mentors, and everyone who encouraged me along the way!

Congratulations to Lara Marie Urschel for being the recipient of the first Lecchino Leadership & Community Service Award 🎉

AvH (@avh_montreal) is where volunteerism and community engagement were sparked for my brother Michael (@michlecc) and I. From kindergarten all the way through Abitur, Michael and I grew up surrounded by teachers and peers who modelled actionable civic involvement. The Lecchino Leadership & Community Service Award is a gesture of appreciation and recognition to students who get involved, lead with kindness, and create change.

I recently wrote about what teaching beginner snowboarders at Mont-Orford has taught me. From the magic carpet to the first chairlift ride, I’m reminded every weekend that my job is helping people trust themselves — and feel at home on snow.

🏂 Le progrès a une autre allure quand on peut le voir arriver, virage après virage.

J’ai récemment écrit sur ce que m’a appris l’enseignement de la planche à neige à des débutant(e)s au Mont-Orford. Du tapis magique à la première montée en chaise, je me rappelle chaque fin de semaine que mon travail, c’est d’aider les gens à avoir confiance en eux — et à se sentir chez eux sur la neige.

Six months after the CanStudyUS Home and Away Fellowship, our cohort reconvened in Toronto for DemocracyXChange, Canada’s annual civic engagement summit. We took the stage in a session titled “The Future in Motion: A Collective Showcase of Systemic Change” to present the lessons and impact of our fellowship. Congratulations to all the speakers!

Six mois après le CanStudyUS Home and Away Fellowship, notre cohorte s’est retrouvée à Toronto pour DemocracyXChange, le sommet annuel canadien sur l’engagement civique. 🇨🇦🇺🇸 October 2024 — I hit the road with the CanStudyUS Home and Away Fellowship, organized by The Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University, on a six-day Mission Great Lakes through Detroit, Ann Arbor, Akron, and Pittsburgh. Each city became a living classroom on public policy, from economic resilience and climate justice to technology governance and inclusive growth. Between strolling through Detroit’s landmarks, trading ideas with student leaders at the University of Michigan, and feeling the energy inside LeBron’s House Three Thirty in Akron, every moment made it unforgettable.

Thank you to The Dais, our rock-star cohort, and every organizer, presenter, activist, and policy leader who made this adventure special.

🇨🇦🇺🇸 Octobre 2024 — J’ai pris la route avec le CanStudyUS Home and Away Fellowship, organisé par The Dais à l’Université métropolitaine de Toronto, pour une mission de six jours dans la région des Grands Lacs : Detroit, Ann Arbor, Akron et Pittsburgh. Chaque ville s’est transformée en salle de classe vivante sur les politiques publiques, de la résilience économique et de la justice climatique à la gouvernance technologique et à la croissance inclusive. Entre les sites emblématiques de Detroit, les échanges d’idées avec des leaders étudiants à l’Université du Michigan et l’énergie ressentie au House Three Thirty fondé par LeBron James à Akron, chaque moment a rendu cette expérience inoubliable.

04.06.2023 - I am honoured to have received Quebec’s Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal, issued by the Honourable J. Michel Doyon. The award is a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of giving back. This recognition fuels my passion to continue contributing to the betterment of our society while empowering young leaders to drive positive change. I'm very thankful for the various organizations I'm involved in, as they've taught me the value of collaboration and community engagement.

Thank you to Concordia University (@concordiauniversity) and the John Molson School of Business (@johnmolsonschool) for providing me with an environment where I can learn and grow, both academically and professionally.

September 2022 - Last summer, we created a social initiative called 5000x500 to promote environmental awareness and encourage citizens to collect waste from public spaces such as main streets, city parks, and riverbanks. We placed an emphasis on cigarette butts because each cigarette butt contains toxic chemicals that can contaminate up to 500 litres of water, polluting our waterways and harming our wildlife. The initiative was was created in partnership with Chantiers jeunesse (@chantiersjeunesse), Héritage Laurentien, Éco-quartier LaSalle (@ecoquartierlasalle), and the Borough of LaSalle (@arr_lasalle). Throughout the summer, we mobilized more than 25 volunteers and collected 5844 cigarette butts for responsible recycling. Through collective action, we can contribute to a healthier environment! 🌿🌳🐠

Septembre 2022 - L'été dernier, nous avons créé 5000x500, une initiative sociale visant à promouvoir la sensibilisation à l'environnement et à encourager les citoyens à ramasser les déchets dans les espaces publics tels que les rues principales, les parcs municipaux et les bords du fleuve. Nous avons mis l'accent sur les mégots de cigarettes, car chaque mégot contient des produits chimiques toxiques qui peuvent contaminer jusqu'à 500 litres d'eau, polluant nos cours d'eau et nuisant à la faune et à la flore. 19.10.2022-23.10.2022 - I had the opportunity to represent Concordia University (@concordiauniversity) at an international business case competition in Münster, Germany. It was an incredible experience competing alongside Taylor, Dylan (@thedylanross), and Émile (@emile_martel). Our 4-hour case revolved around a go-to-market strategy for a German FinTech, whereas our 10-hour case focused on sustainable urban development for the city of Cologne.

We placed first in our division and second in the finals. I was also very fortunate to receive the Best Speaker Award. A big shoutout to our coaches, Colin (@colin__philip), David (@david.lafreniere), and James (@jameshui29), for guiding us along the way. Thank you to JMCC (@jmcconline) for giving me the opportunity to compete internationally.

It was wonderful getting to know academic delegates from 11 universities around the world. I look forward to the next time we cross paths. Lastly, a special thank you to the event organizers for creating such a memorable experience. by @michlecc

25.08.2022 - I had the opportunity to attend the 2022 Cross-Canada Consultations on Official Languages Summit organized by Canadian Heritage (@cdn.heritage) at the National Arts Centre (@nac.cna) in Ottawa. It was great meeting Canadians from across the country as we discussed ways to protect and promote our country’s two #officiallanguages. Minister Petitpas Taylor (@mrdginettepetitpastaylormp) announced a $12.6 million investment to provide nearly 2,000 jobs and internships for young people. This is a significant step towards ensuring the vitality of official-language minority communities. Thank you, Y4Y Québec (@y4yquebec) for this opportunity!

J'ai eu l'occasion d'assister au Sommet des consultations pancanadiennes sur les langues officielles 2022 organisé par Patrimoine canadien (@patrimoine.cdn) au Centre national des Arts (@nac.cna) à Ottawa. C'était un plaisir de rencontrer des Canadiens de partout au pays alors que nous avons discuté des façons de protéger et de promouvoir les deux #languesofficielles de notre pays. This summer, I’m completing my #CanadaServiceCorps project by volunteering for @chantiersjeunesse. The project focuses on promoting environmental awareness and encouraging residents to clean up their neighbourhood. Community clean-ups are important as removing litter from public spaces will protect the environment and ensure better conditions for local wildlife. Cet été, je réalise mon projet #ServiceJeunesseCanada en faisant du bénévolat pour @chantiersjeunesse.
