I was excited to test a new pattern by @fabricandflow for the #drifterskort. I've never sewn stretchy shorts before and was psyched when the fabric that was sent was really nice quality and sewed up beautifully.

For the skort I made an error in ironing so I was forced to use this brown skirt material, but the pattern was great. In this tester version I think the back yoke is a bit low for us shorties, but raise and lower lines are now included.

The real bonus is that the shorts underneath sew up as its own awesome pattern! The shorts have deep thigh pockets, a back waist and pocket, and, important, NO camel toe!! I may use these to sew up multiple versions for summer climbing!

With leftover fabric I also sewed up some fabric blocked mesh panelled tanks, and I'm REALLY excited about them! Love the marching power mesh options.

This year I participated in the @squamishmuralwalk and got the opportunity to paint the biggest piece I've ever made by far! It was an intimidating experience, and made even more so with an impending terrible forecast, which made us all lose a day. Over two days, I put in almost 22hs to get this done. It isn't perfect, and I had to make some last minute design pivots, but I had a great time! Thanks to tons of friends who stopped by, brought psyche, treats, and of course to @mouchinator for the extra hands at the end.

Big thanks to @its_1958 for being the best mural neighbour, giving me pep talks and helping my unprepared self with tarps and paint markers when my original outlining plan fell through!

Big thanks to @alexjfowkes and the @squamishartsfestival for this opportunity! To everyone who came by and gave words of encouragement, thanks so much! I'm not sure where this will ultimately end up living, but I'm so grateful to this town for the chances it's given me to be creative. Also special shout to @xocowestcoastchocolate for coming by with some treats for us!

Last, but certainly not least, we are thrilled to welcome Michelle Ang to the 2026 Squamish Mural Walk Festival!

Michelle is an illustrator and muralist known for her bold use of colour, expressive linework, and deep connection to the outdoors, something that shines through in every piece she creates.

An avid climber and outdoor enthusiast, she draws inspiration from the landscapes surrounding Squamish, bringing our mountains, forests, and sense of adventure to life through her vibrant work.

Her art can be found throughout the Sea to Sky, including a mural for Carbon Engineering along the Estuary Trail, a piece for Climb On’s Vancouver store, and the 2022 Squamish Loggers Day Festival beer label for Backcountry Brewery.

We interrupt our sewing content to wish my absolute delight of a husband the happiest of birthdays! @mouchinator - I hope you have the very best year. Thank you for being my partner in all things! I also want to absolutely shout my pride in watching him send astroman the day before his birthday! Sending your first v7 just before 45 is amazing! And I'm #soproud !!!

In love with the #madronepants from @sewliberated ! Made from 3.5oz lightweight Taslan from @blackbirdfabrics I think these have a great athletic feel, without screaming "climbing pants". I also think this fabric's soft wrinkles really work well on these. I now wanna make like three more pairs but am waiting for the perfect colours (and price) so I can make more!

This is an 8 (slightly increasing the seam allowance past the recommendation to get a blended size with the 6). The instructions tell you not to size down too much as it would effect the crotch curve and I agree. I love where these sit on my waist and I have freedom of movement in this size.

Hiking, climbing, some unhinged shoe modifications, an existential crisis on a rope, some pinball nastiness, and more climbing. All characteristics of a successful visit from @jonathanang21 . One day he'll come for more than 4 days at a time. But he may die from activity overload.

One of the things that makes Genuine Climbing so amazing is the partners and collaborators that share our passion and vision.

I wanted some new fun stickers for @genuineclimbing (cause you can never have enough fun stickers) and when I came accross @michyllica’s designs, I knew she was the one.

She created something beautiful that really makes us all feel so speical. And thats EXACTLY what the vibe is at Genuine Climbing. Making women feel special, supported and seen.

Seeing my art up in town is such a great feeling. Thankful to @carbonengineer for putting a call out for their artists walkway along the estuary and to @squamish.arts for promoting these opportunities. I finally went out to take a peek at it today, and love how the colours came through. Hopefully I get a chance to do more and more of these some day. It means a lot to have a chance to draw, and I'm thrilled that people seem to like it. taken in Squamish Estuary by @michyllica

For the sewing nerds, here are my wide leg hacked #cascadiajoggers from @roadtrippatternco
I used a fantastic ripstip stretch nylon for the legs, lined the waistband in powermesh and used swim material for the band itself.
I really liked the high hip and bum of the cascadias but wanted to be one of the cool young kids with the wide leg. I've also added hidden hem drawcords for cinching I'd needed while climbing. The legs were extended 4.5 inches as the jogger has a cuff that was omitted and was ankle length.

Very happy with how these came out! I'd love to make a pair in an active twill, at a slightly heavier weight but man that fabric is hard to find here! by @michyllica
