🍄 Mushroom season continues…

I’m continuing my little mushroom theme for a while. I’ve really started to enjoy photographing them — there’s something fascinating about their different shapes, colors and tiny details. And somehow, mushrooms simply belong to autumn. 🍂

This little one was growing all alone on a fallen tree, catching just enough light to stand out from its surroundings. A tiny scene that would have been so easy to walk straight past.

And while I’m sitting here editing this photo, autumn is definitely making itself known outside.

The wind is howling, the sky is dark and heavy, and rain is hanging in the air. A proper autumn evening. The kind of weather that makes it feel pretty good to stay inside, listen to the storm outside and spend some time with my photos. ☕🍂

There’s something special about this time of year. The darker evenings, the changing forest… and all these little mushrooms suddenly appearing everywhere. 🍄 Everything feels so fresh.

🍄 There’s something magical about mushrooms.

I really enjoy photographing mushrooms. Maybe it’s the shapes, the tiny details, or the way the light can completely transform them.

Whenever I get down close to the forest floor with my camera, my imagination starts to wander. Mushrooms somehow make me think of stories about trolls, little forest creatures and enchanted worlds — almost like stepping into the pages of the fairy tales and children’s books I remember from childhood. ✨

And now, with autumn slowly approaching, the forest is beginning to change. The flowers and insects of summer are slowly disappearing, while mushrooms are taking their place on the forest floor — bringing a different kind of beauty, and perhaps a little bit of magic, to photograph. 🍂🍄✨

So yes… there will probably be a few more mushroom photos coming. 😁🍄

A LITTLE LIGHT IN THE FOREST 🍄✨

Finally, I found some time to head out with my camera again.

After a morning of grey skies and rain, the clouds suddenly opened up for a while and the sun appeared. A perfect opportunity to grab the camera and head into the forest in search of some mushrooms. There is something magical about mushrooms and light...The way a little light can completely transform something growing quietly on the dark forest floor. Seen from below, this tiny mushroom almost looked like a little lamp, glowing in the darkness and illuminating its own miniature world.

And you can definitely feel that autumn is just around the corner now. 🍂

The air is changing, the forest is getting wetter, the days are slowly becoming shorter — and suddenly these little characters start appearing everywhere. I really love this time of year. There is something special about walking through a damp forest with a camera, searching among moss, fallen leaves and old wood for those tiny scenes that are so easy to walk past.

Sometimes all it takes is getting down close to the ground and finding the right light. And suddenly, something ordinary becomes a little bit magical. 🍄✨

And remember.....

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.

❤️ Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love.

ANOTHER WORLD IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK. 🌍🔬

Sometimes you don’t have to travel very far to discover another world.

You just have to look closer.

I find it fascinating how entire landscapes can exist right beneath our eyes, unnoticed simply because they’re so incredibly small.

This photograph was taken on an old, decaying tree trunk. What looks like a strange forest from another planet is probably no more than 8 mm high.

Tiny plants rising from the moss like alien vegetation, surrounded by a landscape that wouldn’t feel out of place in a science fiction movie.

And yet, it’s right here.
No distant planet.
No imaginary world.

Just a fallen tree in the forest.

Photography has taught me that sometimes the most fascinating places aren’t the ones far away — they’re the ones we normally walk straight past.

We just have to slow down, get a little closer… and look. 🌿

Saturday Post ☀️ (This is a long post 😊)

The sun is shining today, and suddenly autumn feels very far away. Just a few days ago I could almost feel it arriving - wind, rain and dark skies. Luckily, I’m one of those people who actually loves both summer and autumn. 😊

On my way home today after spending a few hours walking through the forest with my camera — and who knows, maybe there’s a future post hiding among the photos I took - I found myself thinking about memories.

We shouldn’t get stuck in the past or live our lives through old memories. The time is now. We should try to make every moment count, create new memories and new stories, while still taking care of the ones we already have.
And yet, sometimes the past finds its way back to us when we least expect it.

I recently moved back to the place where I grew up, and as I drove home through familiar streets, past houses, forests and places I’ve known since childhood, memories suddenly started appearing everywhere.

Small moments I hadn’t thought about for years.

And there I was, alone in my car, smiling - and even laughing a little - at things that happened a very long time ago. ❤️

For a moment I wondered if I should even write something this personal.

Because when we look at the world today, there are far too many children, families and people who don’t have the same feeling of safety. People whose memories may not always be filled with warmth and happiness.
Maybe that makes the good memories even more precious.

And perhaps it can also be a small reminder to all of us who are fortunate enough to feel safe and loved: Let’s do what we can to bring a little more light into someone else’s darkness. 🧡

Just like this little flower — glowing with warmth and light in the darkness. 🧡

Summer is fading… 🍂

Sunday again, and I hope you’re all doing well. A new week is waiting around the corner, bringing new days and new possibilities.

Today has been one of those days when I somehow managed to fit quite a lot into just a few hours.

I started the morning by heading out early with my camera. There’s definitely a feeling of autumn in the air now, and nature is slowly beginning to show little signs that summer is letting go.

Like this little fly, taking a moment to rest on what was once a flower. 🪰🌿

After my little photo adventure, it was time to wash the car, followed by a few really nice hours hanging with a good friend.

Then back home for mowing the lawn, a run in the forest, doing dishes, laundry and some cleaning…

Phew… I’m completely exhausted now. 😅 But in that good way you feel after a day well spent.

Now it’s time to slow down and enjoy what’s left of this Sunday before a new week begins. 🍂

❤️ Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love.

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.

🍂 Autumn is coming… 🍂

Today it really felt like autumn was on its way.

The sky has been dark, the wind has been blowing, and even though the trees are still dressed in their summer green, dry leaves have been dancing across the ground as if autumn had already arrived.

And you know what? I don’t really mind. 😊

I actually love autumn. The crisp, fresh air. The changing colors. Those darker afternoons when you come home, light a few candles and lanterns, make something warm to drink and simply enjoy being indoors.

There’s something wonderfully peaceful about that time of year.

So even if summer isn’t quite over yet, today’s post gets a little taste of what’s waiting around the corner.

A tiny messenger from the forest… 🍄🌲

🐌 A little reminder to slow down…

Tuesday, and I’ve now been back at work for two days after three weeks of vacation.

And you know what? It actually feels pretty good to be back. 😊

I guess it helps when you enjoy what you do and genuinely like going to work.

But I’ve already noticed how quickly everyday life fills up again. There are so many things I want to do, and somehow never quite enough hours in the day. Today, running got my attention after work, which meant the camera had to stay at home.

Luckily, I still have plenty of little moments saved from my photo adventures — like this one. 🐌

It might not be the sharpest or technically best photo I’ve taken, but I really like it. Maybe because there are two little travellers in the frame, each making their way through the world at their own pace.

And perhaps there’s a small reminder hidden in there for the rest of us too…

We don’t always have to hurry.

Sometimes we need to slow down, stress a little less, look around and notice those small, almost magical moments that appear in an otherwise ordinary day.

Because maybe those little moments aren’t interruptions to life.

Maybe they are life. 🌿

Sunday… and tomorrow, it’s back to reality. 🦋🌸

My vacation comes to an end today, and tomorrow it’s time to head back to work. I have to admit, I have slightly mixed feelings about that. 😄

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy having time off. I’m one of those people with far too many interests, ideas and dreams, so I never really struggle to find something to fill my days with - things that make me happy, inspire me, or simply give me new energy.

But I guess that’s what makes time off so valuable. And perhaps returning to everyday life makes you appreciate those free days even more.

So today I’m holding on to that summer feeling for just a little bit longer. ☀️

And this little visitor, resting on a splash of pink, feels like a pretty good way to end my vacation. 🦋🌸

Enough about me. 😊

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend and that you’re feeling ready for the new week ahead. ❤️

❤️ Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love.

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.

👀 So… who is actually behind @mickrophoto? Swipe to find out ➡️

Saturday, not a particularly good day, to be honest - Or… maybe it hasn’t been all bad. I just haven’t made it outside at all today. I’ll try to take a short walk later, without my camera for once…

Although, who am I kidding? 😄

I’ll still have the camera in my phone with me. 📱

But maybe that’s part of what today is about. It’s okay to have days when we don’t accomplish anything.

Days when we don’t turn every hour into something productive, meaningful or worth sharing. We don’t have to make the most of every single minute.

And perhaps most importantly - we don’t have to become a version of ourselves based on what we think other people expect us to be.

Sometimes a quiet Saturday is simply a quiet Saturday.

So tonight?

A good whisky 🥃 - or perhaps a rum - and a series worth binge-watching sounds pretty damn perfect to me. 😄 (Any suggestions)

And if you swipe ➡️ you’ll get to know a little more about the person behind the photographs, the flowers, the insects and all those tiny details I keep pointing my camera at.

❤️ Have a wonderful day or night wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love.

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.

tiny forest hidden inside a shell... 🐌🌿

At least, that’s what I see when I look at this little snail. The patterns in its shell almost remind me of trees in a dark forest, with the light finding its way through between them.

And perhaps that’s why this image made me think about something completely different today - light, shadows... and happiness.

I’ve been thinking about happiness lately.

What is happiness?

Is happiness the same thing as joy, or are they actually two different things?

For me joy can be a moment. A laugh. A beautiful morning. Finding something unexpected through the camera lens. But happiness... perhaps that’s something different. Something deeper and quieter.

I don’t really have an answer. Maybe that’s why I keep thinking about it.

One sentence I once wrote down in my Zibaldone came back to me today:

“There will always be a shadow next to the light.”

And that made me wonder...

Maybe we actually need the shadows to recognize the light. Would we experience joy in the same way if we had never felt sadness? Would we recognize happiness without having known moments when it was absent?

Perhaps happiness isn’t a life without shadows.

Perhaps it’s those moments when we suddenly notice the light. ✨

❤️ Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love. I hope you all have a magical, fun and beautiful weekend. ❤️

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.

Tiny Visitor - Every Attempt Matters ⭐️

Summer has flown by, and next week it’s time for me to head back to work.

In some ways, that actually feels quite nice. But if I’m being completely honest... I have no problem being on vacation, and I could happily do it full-time if life allowed it. 😊

I’ve mentioned before that photography isn’t my only creative outlet. I also love to draw, sketch, and write. There’s something special about putting ink on paper with a good fountain pen - it slows my thoughts down in the best possible way.

Because of that, I keep a Zibaldone notebook, my notebook where I collect ideas, reflections, and little thoughts that I don’t want to lose.

Today’s photo reminded me of one sentence I wrote down a while ago. It feels like it says everything about my photography journey:

”Perfection is a roadblock to progress.”

The more I photograph, the more I realize that waiting for the ”perfect” image only means missing countless beautiful moments along the way.

❤️ Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Take care of yourself and the people you love.

Look closer. There’s beauty everywhere.
