Things are about to look a whole lot greener around Cedar Party Creek 🌱

With the help of the community, we’ve now planted around 3,500 native plants as work continues to restore areas surrounding the new Cedar Party Creek Bridge at Wingham.

This includes 600 plants put in the ground by volunteers at our community planting day with Manning Landcare last month.

🚶 Come and see the difference for yourself with a walk around Chrissy Gollan Park! taken in Wingham by @midcoastcouncil

When it comes to recycling, not all plastic is treated equally.
🍓🫐 Fruit punnets can go in your yellow bin. Thanks to our recycling partner Visy, rigid plastics like berry and cherry tomato punnets or plastic meat trays are recycled to produce new plastic packaging for a whole range of products you see on your supermarket shelves.
🪴 Plastic garden pots on the other hand are made from a different type of plastic that is difficult to recycle. If you can’t repurpose these, they belong in your red bin.

🔗 Unsure if an item can be recycled? Our website makes it easy to check what garbage goes where.

Cattai Wetlands is reopening! 🌿

From this Saturday, you can once again explore the wandering boardwalks, wildlife and natural beauty of Cattai Wetlands, just in time for the school holidays.

The wetlands have been closed since the May 2025 floods caused significant damage to sections of the boardwalk. With repairs now complete, this much-loved natural attraction is ready to welcome visitors back.

🔎 And there’s more happening next month. A 48-hour Cattai Wetlands Bioblitz will be held on 16 and 17 October, giving you the chance to become a citizen scientist and help document the plants and wildlife that call the wetlands home.
