Road me: peaceful and quiet.
Trail me: feral woodland creature with pure chaos energy.
Who can relate?

Bad run? Definitely the shoes.
Not the 3 hours of sleep, 0 electrolytes, and 2 gummy bears I called “fuel.” 🫠

Faith, trust, and pixie dust?

A pretty accurate depiction of how I look vs. what’s playing through my headphones. 😆🤘

I love how the official race photos turned out!

What a fun day! Queen Bee Half Marathon was a blast! It’s crazy, I’ve ran many ultras and even a marathon, but I’ve never ran an “official” half marathon race before today and I’m a fan! Honestly, I just love running! On to the next….

Obligatory race day photo. With bonus cringe song! 🥳

Look, I know it’s not a Disney race, but it’s October and my birthday is Tuesday and I wanted some magic and complete nonsense in my life today…Corral (Hive) F because me and the hubby stick together!

Some stuff is missing from the photo for clutter sake, but I’m bringing the glitter! All the glitter! 😬😆

P.S. Pixie Dust is bicarb….🤘

What an awesome morning! Ran one of my favorite races, Sound the Alarm 5k in my hometown.

I really wasn’t optimistic going into this. I’m coming off an achilles and ATFL injury from my ultra 2 weeks ago. I also haven’t trained speed and I’m dealing with some allergies.

Despite that, I crushed my goal! I finished faster than last year!

I was 8th place female, 28th overall out of 111, and 3rd place in my age group!

Adam also finished 3rd in his age group and absolutely crushed his time goal. He was 29th overall!

$Last year, Adam and I attempted the East Fork 100K and took the unofficial 50K finish. We got home, ate, and immediately knew we’d made the wrong call. We had more in the tank. We could have kept going. So this year, we came back stronger, better prepared, and genuinely believed we could finish the 100K. Then race week did what race week does. Heavy rain made the river crossings unsafe, the course changed at the last minute, and race day brought brutal humidity, some rain, and an epic shit ton of mud. And somehow, we were having the best fucking day! I felt good, I was moving well, and my mood was great. Around mile 24, I felt a sharp pain at the back of my heel that shot upward into my ankle/Achilles. It happened twice and stopped. By mile 29–30, my ankle was throbbing, but I kept moving and made it to the 50K mark about 95 minutes faster than last year. I sat down, took my shoes and socks off to get ready for the next loop and saw that my ankle was bruised and swollen. I spent more than two hours trying to convince myself to stop. I wanted this finish so badly. I spent an entire year thinking about it. But going back out meant another 33 miles of mud, climbing, descending and slipping without knowing what I’d injured. Eventually, I made the decision I didn’t want to make, I stopped and took my DNF. To say I’m not upset would be a lie. Afterward, a persistent headache, nausea and vomiting landed me in the ER. Thankfully, that workup was reassuring and my ankle X-ray showed no fracture. An MRI finally gave me the answer: Achilles peritenonitis with superficial edema, no tear or rupture, and a Grade 1 ATFL sprain. So I wasn’t imagining the injury, but I also stopped before we got to find out what another 33 miles might have done to it. I’m still disappointed. I probably will be for a while. For now, it’s recover and then onto the next… I have a feeling East Fork and I aren’t finished with each other yet… #eastforktrail #ultramarathon #trailrunner #dnf #ultrarunner by @midpackmenace$

Steel City 12 Hour Endurance Run:

Man, what a night! Our first timed event and it did not disappoint!

We had:
•3 tornado warnings
•pulled from the course twice
•heavy rain
•2 hour, 15 minute delay (making the end time 8:15am instead of 6am)
•flooding

I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!

We met so many awesome people, had so many hilarious moments and conversations! Too much to type! Can’t wait to do it all again!

Finished with 42.96 miles. 10th place overall. 4th place female! Like what?!
On to the next….

I love my Mount to Coast H1’s. These were going to be my top pick for ultras this. However, I’m starting to doubt I will be about to wear for long distances. I’m getting pretty bad hot spots. Last year my ON CloudUltra Pro’s were fantastic in 50k’s. Before I roll with those again, what is everyone loving? NOTE: one race is a majorly technical course with lots of water crossings! Thanks!
