Can anyone give me tips on taking rose cuttings please?

February to Easter.

I’ve had a glass of wine and feeling bold enough to share this. My beautiful, kind and utterly wonderful mum died on Valentine’s Day and I’ve been lost. I miss her desperately. Even the dementia soaked version of her.

The time between February and Easter was a blur. Alongside the funeral planning we had family illness, a concussion, special anniversaries, Mother’s Day and her birthday. Now we’re in May I don’t even remember most of these things.

Grief has hit me like hammer this time round. Even though I knew it would come. Initial shock gave way to numbness, utter despair, abject disbelief, joyful things laced with guilt, forced normality, trying to support kids when you don’t know how to support yourself, hiding from messages, wanting to live in a cave, headaches from frowning, exploding cheekbones from weeping. Waves of pain.

Friends are precious and vital.

We dont talk about this stuff enough! You think you’re abnormal and odd and making too much of it, but the love you knew is changing into some different unknown form and it’s unsettling.

I know it will get better because I’ve had many depths and now know they don’t last. I already feel better than I did a month ago. But tomorrow I might not. I know from when I lost my dad and stepdad that grief feels different for each person, changeable, but it never diminishes, your life just gets larger around it. I look forward to life growing around it. #griefislove #LosingAParent #LosingYourMum #loss

HNY all x 🪩
1 I may be buffet-ed out for a few weeks now
2 @finlandia_vodka @cointreau and lime jelly shots. Bloomed some gelatine, made a simple sugar syrup and cooled it, added a lot of booze and lime juice, mixed in the softened gelatine and poured into lime shells and chilled. Bloody yum.
3 I’m not sure why I could find so many disco balls around the house to decorate with
4 petition to bring back vol-au-vents. Especially prawn cocktail.
5 a birthday key lime pie on NYE
6 fully expect to still be finding these in March ⭐️

A very Christmas summary -

1 Christmas Day snacks of sliver thin Christmas Eve pie and toasted cheese scones
2 Christmas Eve matchy matchy pj cuddles
3 a thrown together, very rustic Christmas Eve pie this year. And a veggie mini to mark 1yr of daughters pescatarianship
4 Yorkies are always on my Christmas table. Discuss.
5 canapés and sherry, not just for me, but you know, chef’s perks…
6 12 items on a plate is ridiculous. Didn’t enjoy it. A last minute veggie pie for one in view

9 love a messy table so much I leave cleaning it for at least a day and smile every time I walk past it

19 on the 27th we make lasagna

Had the most wonderful evening at a Christmas Preview Evening at @theblacklionlongmelford celebrating how well they do the festive season.

We were welcomed by beautifully scented Winter candles from @connockengland setting the scene perfectly with notes of clementine, clove and patchouli. The venue is beautifully decorated throughout, every inch a cosy Suffolk pub set in a quintessential English village overlooking the green. The staff are attentive, the food delicious, every detail considered - everything you’d expect from a Chestnut pub. We’ve visited and stayed in many and each venue seems to retain its own integrity, celebrating that individual part of East Anglia.

We will definitely return with the kids and Baxter to stay the night and explore the many antique shops in the village (they’re very dog friendly too). Thank you so much for having us @chestnutcraftedhospitality

Talk about stars aligning; I saw @bakingtheliberty make banana cake on here last night and an hour later there were 6 ripe bananas reduced to 84p in my local @eoecoop winking at me. Quick cake made in a blender? I mean, that’s the universe telling me to make it, right?

I made mine chai rather than earl grey, there’s homemade caramel in the buttercream and I sprinkled with cinnamon because, apparently autumn equinox happened. Something pretty nice about the sound of crinkling baking paper when you cut into new cake, don’t you think?
