I always get so many messages when I share trips in stories, I thought I’d make them posts instead.

24 HRS IN LAVENHAM for our wedding anniversary this week. Dating back to Saxon times, it’s one of the best preserved medieval villages in England with over 300 listed buildings. Granted a market charter in 1257 for its wool and broadcloth, by the 14th century it was once the richest towns in the country due to its weaving industry. But the prosperity waned and the investment left, leaving long forgotten buildings.

We stayed at the Grade 1 listed @lavenhamswan formally the 15th century Wool Hall. I booked direct for a great 1 night B&B rate inclusive of 2 hours per day complementary use of the spa facilities at @weavershousespa (neatly linked behind the hotel), meaning we visited twice.

We booked a 60 minute treatment via the spa website; the Relax-ology, a mind-calming full body massage on the most insanely comfortable massage bed with heated water mattress - utterly sublime. The staff were a joy, you get 15% off further treatments if you rebook during your visit, plus any spa that gives me snacks after a treatment is going to be on my favourite list. That’s a cherry macaron and there were handmade chocolates too.

Dinner in The Gallery restaurant, a stunning timber framed vaulted dining hall, where you can choose from the a la carte or brasserie menu.
Drinks in the Airman’s Bar, a nod to the wartime effort.
Still with plenty of time to explore the historic @eastofenglandnt Guildhall and beautiful village used in Harry Potter films.

Food, spa and history - more in the next reel!

So, trip tips you can save, what do we think? Would prices be helpful? You know I always shop around for a bargain! 😉

If you're short on stock, a bit of creative thinking can turn what you have in your kitchen into a delicious meal 💡

Check out this use-it-up dinner win from @midweek.kitchen 🥳 this is how they planned it:

"Dinner inspo usually starts with one ingredient for me, in this case, these mushrooms. But a scant fridge after half term camping last night meant it was joined by a dodgy looking courgette, a pack of toms, a couple of sweet potatoes (minus the rotten one) and a bag of salad that needed iced water and a whizz in a spinner to bring it back to life.

Griddled, roasted, garlic-ed and olive oiled to within an inch of their lives with herbs from the garden, these veg were perfect after the weekends BBQs. Swipe for the plate up. Kids got freezer stash roasted pepper sauce (end pic), coz no one needs a dinner war when you’re tired."

Yum! Leftovers can be put in reusable tub, labelled with the date and name, then frozen for up to six months to enjoy all over again 🙌

Image 2: A white dish with bright red cherry tomatoes garnished with garlic, melted butter and fresh herbs. Image 3: A table with 5 dishes: grilled eggplant, the mushroom dish, cooked tomatoes, sweet potato chips and a green salad bowl with sliced orange peppers. Image 4: A table of delicious food to share including sliced garlic bread, pasta in a tomato sauce, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and aubergine. Image 5: A plate of a selection of the meals in the previous images. The plate is full and colourful.]

Pastel princess party 🌸👸🏼⭐️

‘Every birthday should be celebrated’ my late Grandma Hut always said whilst getting out her best china 🫖 and offering me a huge slap of lemon drizzle cake 🍰
~ NB (I gave each of my grandparents an extra name so I could recognise between the two. Grandma Hut because she had a pastel yellow beach hut. And Grandma Bike 🚲 because she bought me my first little racing red bike.

Since then birthdays have always remained a big thing for our family. My mum (Grandma Fizzy - 🥂😁) carried on the tradition and now I do the same for my family 🎈 you’ve got to make the years count, not count the years!
