MY FIRST SOLO FLIGHT AS PILOT IN COMMAND 🥳 I did a hard thing today and I’m proud of myself 🥰

I couldn’t have done it without my sharp and skilled instructor @mr_ma_king who stuck with me, trusted me, and fixed my bad habits and cardinal sins. You rock Kingston! Also grateful to all my past instructors who taught me along the way. Believing in yourself is #1 for accomplishing difficult things, but if you also have others who believe in you, you are unstoppable. My dad wrote me the note below before this solo and I am so grateful for his love and the support of ALL my family and friends.

“Dear Kakak,

As you embark on your first solo flight, we want you to know just how incredibly proud we are of you. Your determination, courage, and unwavering passion for flying have brought you to this moment, and it’s a moment that’s going to be etched in your memory forever.

As you soar through the skies, remember that the limitless blue above is a canvas for your dreams. You have the skills, the knowledge, and the spirit to navigate any course life presents to you. Your wings aren’t just for flying; they’re for reaching new heights and exploring uncharted territories.

There will be moments of turbulence, both in the air and in life, but always remember that you have the strength to weather any storm. Each challenge you face, each journey you take, is a stepping stone towards the bright future you’ve envisioned.

You are capable, you are talented, and you are destined for greatness. This solo flight is just the beginning of a lifetime filled with adventures and achievements. Cherish every moment in the cockpit, and let the sky be your playground.

Action-packed Labor Day weekend in San Diego 🥰

We
- enjoyed sunsets at Point Loma
- hiked and rock climbed at Mission Gorge : Bear’s first outdoor lead sends! ✅
- surfed Del Mar
- hiked world-class geological outcrops along Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
- went to the anthropology and Mingei museums at Balboa Park
- explored San Diego Zoo (covered 85% of it!)
- spent time chilling at Josh’s rooftop pool
- visited the Lafayette Hotel and its various bars and admired all the art deco architecture
- enjoyed life-altering bucatini at Cucina Urbana
- had excellent fresh seafood on the wharf at Point Loma
- had delicious home-style Georgian/Russian cuisine at Pomegranate (lamb chops yum)
- had Thai street food at Kin Len on 30th
- had Japanese-Italian fusion At Cinkuni on El Cajon
- treated Josh to his first authentic Thai massage at Baiboon : highly recommend! by @mighty.muni

Tegalalang 😍

He was originally going to propose on these rice terraces but was (quite sensibly) worried about carting a ring across the globe… so he proposed at home on Christmas Day and we got to turn this shoot into a honeymoon shoot instead. No complaints 💍🥰
