20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026)

Took some time to reflect on my journey in sports after a week in Nagoya.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that were given to me as an athlete. Having competed in Beijing in 1990 and Hiroshima in 1994 as a teenage swimmer and subsequently in 2018 in Jakarta as a Jujitsu athlete, the return to Japan for my 4th Asiad felt like a homecoming.

MMA made its debut as an event in Asian Games. It’s a huge milestone for the sport and I’m incredibly proud to represent Singapore as Deputy Head Referee for the event. Coupled with a historic gold medal win by @tiffanymma it’s a successful mission for Team Singapore @teamsingapore and MMAAS @mma.singapore

A huge thank you to @asianmmaorg for getting MMA into the games and the opportunity to experience it from a different perspective.

Tashkent Memories 2026

My second trip to this gorgeous country, this time with an international team of referees to officiate in the 4th AMMA Asian Championship.

Amazing to reconnect with old friends and meet new folks. Slowly but surely Im getting better with decision making under cloudy circumstances 😁

Looking forward to the next big event in Japan!

Asian Mixed Martial Arts (AMMA)
Level B Referee Certification

9 events, 8 countries and countless new friendships in 2 years.

The learning curve was steep and performances are far from perfect. But failure goes hand in hand with success. I’ve learn through obstacles, challenges and shared experiences from ITOs who have been in the game for a much longer time. @hadi.mohamedali @seo.woo_0121 @the_bears_den_mma

Thank you @asianmmaorg for the opportunities and trust. Looking forward to a productive and fruitful 2026 with the AMMA team and ITOs. taken in Luzhou, Sichuan by @mighty_mayooi

Referee Seminar and Japan MMA Nationals 2025

It’s been an honor and pleasure to go back to the ‘home’ of MMA.
Reconciliation of history and modern MMA with the goal of bringing the sport to Asian Games and beyond.
It’s been a pleasure working with some of the most experienced and professional sports administrators in Japan.
@masa4430 thank you for the hospitality and opportunity to see the best of Japan’s athletes in action.
To my fellow referees, it’s been a pleasure.
Till 2026.

Over and out for 2025.

International Technical Official Life

MMA is featured as a demo sport at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

Thank you Thailand for the hospitality. You were amazing in every way hosting our MMA athletes and officials.

The lessons learned on this trip were glaring.
It’s all about the people who help you grow, pick you up when you are down and get your back when they see the daggers out.

Big shoutout to @octagonasia.mma for organising this workshop in conjunction with the launch of BEPRO, a local initiative in Penang with the objective of supporting and elevating professionals martial artists in the local scene.

My heartfelt thank you to ‘Bruce Lee’ @kimleetan_life for rocking up as the villain 🦹‍♀️ to facilitate the seminar. You were the perfect bad guy 😂 taken in Penang, Malaysia by @mighty_mayooi

Bali 2025 Part I

The island has an uncanny way of gently guiding you back when you are ready. This journey has been about forgiveness and rebirth.
The lessons I’ve learn here through loss, heartbreak and forgiveness were necessary for my growth. So grateful for @tighthead03, his love and support made this journey a little easier. 💝

So much has changed on the island, but the essence of her energy is still very much intact. It shines beautifully through the local people, their kindness meandering gently around the overdeveloped chaos of metal and granite.

Letting go of a 9 year grudge is liberating and necessary. Glad I did it.

@komangmahardika thank you for the patience and kindness 🏄‍♀️🌊

Laser sharp focus
In some athletes I can sense the fear, the hesitation
Then there is a special group of them, raw instincts, skills sharpened to collect more than just medals… I keep a close eye on those because they resonate loud and clear like an old friend.

I’m the dolphin 🐬 that tames the sharks 🦈

This is home. My playground. My rules. My call.
