✨BIG NEWS- we have rebranded 🎉🎊

Five years ago, when I co-founded OWN Your Pelvic Health, I never imagined we would be here.

What started as a vision for better care has grown into something I am so deeply proud of, a practice that has had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of Denver families through some of their most difficult and personal challenges.

Through the name changes, the growth, and every twist along the way, the root of why we do this work has never changed.

We believe families and children deserve better. We believe there is a real need for personalized, high-quality care for kids struggling with bowel and bladder challenges. These aren’t easy things to talk about. They’re deeply personal, sometimes overwhelming, and too often dismissed.

Families deserve providers who truly listen, who work alongside them to find the real root of what their child is struggling with.

The themes that OWN always stood on — Optimal Wellness and Nourishment — continue to ring even deeper as we help kids build mighty roots and grow into who they truly are.

So today, with so much gratitude and excitement, we introduce Mighty Roots Therapy.

The name is new. The logo is new. The website is new.

But your therapist, our approach, our 60-minute play-based specialized sessions, and our deep love for every family we serve, those never change.

Go check out our new website and learn all about why I started this practice and how we can help your family grow. Link in bio.

Welcome to our new home & happy place ✨

I am so excited to finally share that we have officially made the move into our new clinic space.

It truly feels like such an honor to create a space dedicated just for kids and their families. When children are struggling with bowel and bladder challenges, it can feel overwhelming, isolating, and honestly just really hard. That’s exactly why we created this space with so much intention.

From plenty of room to move, play, and build obstacle courses, to 5 private treatment rooms designed to be safe, calm spaces for one-on-one sessions with your child’s therapist, every part of this clinic was created with families in mind.

We are already loving making this space our home and sharing it with all of our wonderful families. If you’re in the area, come say hi, we would absolutely love to see you 🤍 by @mightyrootstherapy

And it hit home. 🤍

So many kids are trying to tell us something about what they’re experiencing through their behavior. Sometimes, behavior is the only way they know how to communicate what’s happening inside of them.

Because behavior is really just the tip of the iceberg.

Underneath it, it’s our job as the grown-ups in their lives to get curious.

What is this behavior trying to tell us? What’s happening in their sensory system? Their nervous system? Physically? Emotionally? What’s happening in their environment? What feels hard or overwhelming that they may not have the words to explain yet?

Kids inherently want to do well. They aren’t waking up wanting to have a hard day, disappoint us, or make things more difficult.

And we see this every single day in our work.

When kids are struggling with bowel, bladder, or toileting concerns, most of the time it isn’t simply behavior. There’s something underneath the surface that they need our help understanding and working through.

The behavior is information. Our job is to get curious about what it’s telling us.

August brings a lot of change. 🤍

New routines, new classrooms, new bathrooms, busier mornings…and sometimes a few bumps we weren’t expecting.

If toileting, constipation, accidents, or bathroom routines feel a little harder as we head back to school, it doesn’t mean you’re going backward.

Transitions can be hard on little bodies (and on parents, too!).

So consider this your August reminder: give them grace, give yourself grace, and keep celebrating the small wins. You’re doing a great job and you don’t have to figure it all out alone. 🌱

Here’s to a new school year and taking it one day at a time. 🤍 by @mightyrootstherapy

This isn’t your typical pediatric clinic…

We created this space with so much intention because kids deserve to feel comfortable, confident, and understood.

A place where struggles are met with real solutions and little wins turn into big breakthroughs.

Bowel and bladder challenges are hard enough as it is for kids, that is why when they walk in the door here they are met with private treatment rooms, plenty of space to play and move, and lots of fun games every step of the way.

We’re so proud of this space and the care that happens inside it 🤍

Stop asking “Do you have to go potty?” every five minutes. 🛑 Try this instead. 👇

We often put the entire demand on our kids to figure out their internal cues, but they learn best by watching us. In our latest episode, pediatric OT Annie Close shares a game-changing hack: Narrate your own bladder.

By simply saying, “Oh, I feel a little pressure in my tummy, my bladder is telling me it’s full!” you are:
✅ Normalizing the sensation.
✅ Teaching the vocabulary of interoception.
✅ Removing the “power struggle” of potty commands.

It’s just like teaching emotion identification—we have to name it to tame it! 🧠

If you’re currently hiding in the bathroom while your toddler has their fourth accident of the day… this one is for you. 🚽

We’ve been told that potty training should be a “3-day miracle” or it’s a failure. But my guest this week, pediatric OT Annie Close, is here to remind us that potty training is a complex motor skill—just like riding a bike. 🚲

It’s not about a deadline; it’s about a learning process. It requires:

1️⃣ A child whose body is physically ready.
2️⃣ A parent who has the emotional capacity to teach.

If you’re feeling the pressure of a preschool deadline or social media “methods,” take a deep breath. You aren’t failing, and neither is your child.

When kids struggle with potty training, accidents, constipation, or bedwetting, it’s rarely about motivation or “trying harder.”

Bowel and bladder skills depend on:
• nervous system regulation
• pelvic floor coordination
• body awareness
• a sense of safety

When the body is supported first, behavior follows. If this resonates and you’re feeling stuck, support can help 🤍

We love helping parents understand how their child’s pelvic floor develops because when you know the journey to bowel and bladder control, it’s easier to see where things might break down when challenges show up. Inspired by @progressthroughplay, this analogy is one of the most digestible ways to explain pelvic floor development. Did you learn something new? Tell us in the comments! 💛
