Receiving two Bronze awards for Best Use of Media Relations and Community Relations and Engagement at this year’s PRINZ Awards reflects the collective effort behind sharing the story of WIPCE 2025 with Aotearoa and the world.

Last November, under the korowai of iwi manaaki Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, WIPCE 2025 welcomed more than 3,800 delegates from over 40 Indigenous cultures to Tāmaki Makaurau. Together with AUT and the WIPCE International Council, we’re proud to have amplified the stories of Indigenous excellence, platforming leaders, educators, researchers, and knowledge holders across Aotearoa and beyond.

This recognition reinforces the importance of Indigenous-led communications and of our industry in sharing diverse voices and knowledge systems. It’s uplifting to see the value of kaupapa-driven practice celebrated in this space.

Nō mātou te honore, e mihi nui ana to everyone who raised WIPCE 2025 up, and congratulations to all finalists and winners recognised at this year’s PRINZ Awards.

History made today, with thousands showing up for te hīkoi mō Te Tiriti and for the rights of Māori. We went ‘sea-koi’ on Haunui waka with our @tetokivoyagingtrust whānau, and it was really special to tautoko the hīkoi from the moana. You could feel the wairua filling the whole area. We follow in the footsteps of our tīpuna, and hīkoi to show up for our mokopuna. So that they won’t have to fight for fairness, respect and equity.
Aotearoa, e tū! We need everyone to tautoko! So our mokopuna don’t have to hīkoi in the future 🖤🤍❤️

Haere atu rā e te rangatira @enuake 🖤 Kei te heke te hupe, kei te maringi ngā roimata. Aue, taukiri e.

What a huge and beautiful send off for you yesterday, tho our hearts were breaking for your whānau, friends and especially your babies. It was lovely to hear your whakapapa, and the story of your ingoa from your great grandfather Enuake, so special.🖤

Our old friend, we will always be so grateful for knowing you, the most beautiful and kind soul with so much love, talent, and style.

And so grateful also to have a bit of you with us forever - which has always been our favourite piece of art by far, and which we will treasure even more now.

Moe mai rā, e hoa. Tino pouri te ngākau 💔💔Tino nui te aroha 🖤🖤

Waitangi Day for me as a wahine with both Māori and Pākehā whakapapa, is a day of reflection and hope. An opportunity to remember the past and focus on the future.

While The Treaty has caused huge mamae for Māori resulting in intergenerational trauma, and Te Tiriti has not been upheld - I choose hope today.

Even though progress is slow and sometimes it feels like we might be regressing, our country is on a journey of reconciliation and understanding and I hope that Aotearoa will become the place rangatira envisaged it would be when they signed 183 years ago. I have to have hope …for my son and for my mokopuna to come.

So how do we better honour Te Tiriti and continue to try to right the wrongs of the past, to build a future that is more equitable and to move forward together? We all need to learn the history of Te Tiriti, and understand the impacts on Māori. We need to be brave and debate the issues and understand the injustices, in order to act from a place of empathy that will help us move forward with aroha and kotahitanga. I believe this work should be done by Pākehā, with the support of Māori. Not the other way around….said with aroha and manaakitanga! 🖤
I think about how my beautiful Mum has spent her life gaining understanding of te ao Māori, giving her real empathy for the challenges Māori face. He tangata Tiriti ia!

So today I encourage my friends and whānau to learn about our shared history, and research to broaden your perspectives. I’m gratefully sharing this kōrero in the slides from @saf_te_pia as a starting point, in the hope that it sparks curiosity, interest, understanding and awareness.

Whakahonore Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Whakanuia te rā Waitangi! Kia māia, Aotearoa 🖤♥️

E te whānau! Come join me, @ngatikuriteiwi and all our friends and whānau at the #HīkoiTo100 music festival in the Far North on May 21st - exactly one month away.

The first music festival our @maiastudionz team have put on, and what a way to kick off!

It’s a STACKED lineup with @tomorrowppl @1814 @che_fu @ladiwho @savage_nz @jacksonowensnz @monsta_g1 @israelstarr @dj_jayrasik - and MCs @brothad274 & @misskihi_nativediva and tickets are only a $10 koha @ticketspace.nz (link in bio) 🙌🏽 🤯✨

The kaupapa is a mihi and a celebration, honouring the mahi that the iwi and the rohe have put in to create resilience in the face of Covid by protecting their vulnerable whānau, and answering the Ngāti Kuri rallying cry #heitupunarangatirakoe #beagoodancestor

Couldn’t be more pumped and proud and a little 😱 but TINO harikoa to know our mahi has impact and we are supporting a kaupapa with huge purpose.

To our partners - aku mihi nunui ki a koutou mo tō mahi me tō tautoko. Literally couldn’t be doing this without you guys. @andy1979mgmt @dawnraidentertainment @ticketspace.nz
Bring on May 21st! Lessssssgo ✨✨✨ taken in Awanui Rugby Club by @mihiblake
