I just completed mixing @miidachu ‘s latest short film SOAKED which is bound to make some noise at festivals. In addition to being a very captivating and entertaining story, the sound is extremely creative and out of the box which made for a challenging, yet exciting process. by @miidachu

Filmmaking is all about BTS isn’t it? The past three days were the most fun I’ve ever had telling stories. Thanks to so many people who brought the project to life!! Especially @jackmcdop @skyolang @simonabich @avec_sophoclea @alicia.herder and many folks whose ins handles I haven’t collected!!! I just moved out of the little Glendale backhouse I dwelled in for four years. It’s the longest I’ve lived in one place in my adult life. So much has happened here. I’m a completely different person from who I was when I moved in. I’m grateful for all the inspiration it has nourished. A house is like a ship, and this little ship has sailed so much farther than it could have ever fathomed 🫶 by @miidachu

I’ve been writing about this world a lot lately, a world where a meteor is going to strike and kill everything on Earth, but it won’t hit for another ten years. So everyone lives in a kind of limbo of purpose.

I want to find happiness in this world. That’s why I’ve been imagining what it’s like to be a seven-year-old kid living in it.

Perhaps it’s sad to realize that you’ll never have the life experiences you’ve read about in books or seen in movies. You’ll never fall in love. You’ll never have a family. You’ll never have those midlife crises.

But perhaps imagining them is as good as living them. I want these kids to imagine them, to reenact them, like children playing house. Maybe they want to make movies, casting themselves and roleplaying the lives they’ll never have.

Because sometimes in real life, we’re just roleplaying anyway.

The other night, while watching a spectacular sunset, I imagined two kids hanging out on the beach. One of them says:

“Last night I had a dream.
A dream of a life I’ll never have.

You were in it.
We grew old together.

We spent some of our last days walking on this beach,
watching the sunset.

And the sunset there
was just as beautiful as the sunset here.

What dream did you have?”
