Our @backtotheflax installation “A break in the field” at @kazerneehv for Dutch Design Week 2025! 🌾
This is our second year working together as a collective : growing, harvesting, and creating with flax from seed to material.
Thank you to everyone who came by, talked, shared, and celebrated this special plant with us!

A break in the field

This installation shows flax in different stages of transformation: Paused mid-cycle, neither finished nor fixed. A moment in between, highlightng different states of matter. Facing limitation of industrial infrastructure to process the flax into linen, new ways of using, recycling, and sharing the material emerge, applying a traditional craft in new ways.
flax is gaining renewed attention as a versatile material, both for its sustanable and physical properties. This work proposes a sensitive approach to the material - a moment to slow down, to reconnect with matter and older craft methods, and to reconsider how materials and communities might grow together.
