After 20 years of playing the sport I love, it’s finally time to say goodbye to playing between the lines. While this marks the end of a chapter, it’s truly the beginning of another. This sport has shaped who I am—teaching me my identity, deepening my faith, showing me the value of relationships, and guiding me through the journey of growing up.

For years, I struggled with one question often asked at camps: “If you could go back and tell your younger self something, what would it be?”

My answer is simple—don’t be your worst enemy. We often chase perfection and let negative self-talk limit our growth, when in truth, our potential is limitless. Lean on those in your corner, because life isn’t meant to be done alone.

To the young athletes still playing—soak it all in. You’ve been given a gift, surrounded by incredible people, and you’ll one day look back with nothing but gratitude.

Thank you for all who have supported me during this journey. Thank you to the University of Virginia and the University of Southern Mississippi for letting a girl like me live out her childhood dream. I am forever grateful and I cannot wait to see where the lord takes me next.

𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: 𝙈𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖 𝙁𝙤𝙭 🎓

Over the past two seasons, Mikaila has been a steady force for Southern Miss, starting 75 games at first and third base. She has tallied 60 hits, 27 RBI, and 17 walks in the Black & Gold. This season, Mikaila posted a career-high four hits at Georgia Southern and a career-best four RBI, including a double and a triple, in a win over ULM.

She was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week in early April after helping lead the Golden Eagles to their third consecutive series victory.

Mikaila is set to graduate with two master’s degrees — one in Sport Management and one in Business Administration. Following graduation, she plans to continue her softball journey by beginning a career in collegiate coaching.

Congratulations, Mikaila, and thank you for everything you’ve given to Southern Miss Softball! 🦅🔝
