Negativity is a cancer.

We have a phrase at NextGen Restoration we train on day 1 of onboarding: ā€œNo BCD.ā€

Joshua Steinberger will tell you it means ā€œno ā€˜becityā€ cause our guys all have a focus on staying in shape. šŸ˜‚

BCD stands for Blaming, Complaining or Deflecting.

The practice of extreme ownership is a standard we keep, making sure standards are kept high.

When negativity is introduced, that negativity spreads like cancer and needs to be removed immediately.

Now, there is a difference between venting and complaining…everyone needs an outlet to vent, but it’s a leaders job to hold the standard and keep conversations productive, and venting should never go down.

Problem solving is part of our core values. Helpful: we work together to be a part of the solution.

When problems arise, they should be viewed with the intent to find a solution, not just unburden them on someone else like a turd in a bag dropped on someone’s front porch.

Productive conversations come from being solution oriented and attacking the problem, not the person.

Standards become what you tolerate and when it comes to negativity, you have to watch for it every day to keep it from rearing its ugly head. by @mike.f.bauer

There’s not a single positive habit I wish I had started later in life. Not one.

On the flip, there are tons of bad habits I wish I had quit earlier.

Eating healthier.
Lifting and running.
Learning new skills.
Being around successful people living lives I want to emulate.
Not drinking alcohol.
Including our kids around our real estate deals.
Reading often.
Listening to abundance minded podcasts and audiobooks.
Buying a two seater. šŸ˜‰
Spending more intentional time with my wife.
Creating a forced savings account.
Learning how to create business systems.
Being mentally present when I’m physically present.
Investing in real estate.

If it’s worth doing eventually, it’s worth starting now.

It was extremely important for me to learn that in order to start a positive habit, I almost always had to remove a negative one.

What I found was that it wasn’t ever just addition by subtraction, but multiplication.

Remove bad habits, start stacking positive ones, and within a few short years, your life will become unrecognizably better.

-A lesson to both my former and current self. šŸ¤™ by @mike.f.bauer

We are in the business of developing people, roofing is the way we do it.

Another 4 Property Specialists off to their respective 3 markets!!

I learned years ago that all business problems are solved through proper recruiting and proper training. I’ve watched it play out in real time many instances since then. To watch a new crew of roofers go from day 1 to knocking doors this week was incredible.

It speaks volume to the culture and team here at NextGen Restoration. Hell, one of our recruits is already talking about getting a company logo tattoo. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I’m so grateful to be working with individuals excited to come to work each day. Even when problems arise, that’s something that comes pretty naturally to me at this point…but it’s rare for many others. I’m sure you’ve seen it, too.

It’s why we focus so much time on the future vision of the company and how everyone can fit their vision within that future. When everyone grows, everyone wins, and it all starts with hiring the right people and taking great care of them and their growth. That’s where great customer service comes from because it’s a natural part of the process.

We call it the NextGen Difference.

Proud of these dudes and really excited to watch them both in life and their careers. Big moves ahead, and we’re only just getting started. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ¤™ by @mike.f.bauer

Nobody’s success story starts with things getting better because they gave up when times were tough.

Success alone doesn’t make you strong…you earn success through being the person who has persevered through tough times.

People’s view of success is often flawed when they view a person today and assume that version of them always existed.

The actions often come before the belief. Then the belief comes before the success. The success comes from who you have become from the whole process.

Give yourself the permition to act out of faith alone in order to build the belief that together achieves success.

Said simply: failure only comes from those who quit. If you never quit, failure isn’t an option.

Learning comes from discomfort.

Getting to climb roofs with our company’s top producer was another great experience today. Dude crossed over a million in sales before the halfway point of the year. A true white rabbit…redefining what’s possible and proving what can be done in real time, pulling others to accomplish greater by watching him succeed day in and day out.

ā€œYou coming up?ā€ Dang right, homie.

If there’s a some solid truth told every day…growth never comes from a zone of comfort. You need to be around people winning. You will always wish you documented more of the process.

Appreciate the time John R Hoyle. It’s great getting to do life with you, brother. The journey has already been far, and we’re just getting started.

10 years apart, same Italian town…two very different outcomes.

My brother in law Luis is Portuguese and it’s been a really great decade cheering on Ronaldo and the Portugal teams in the world and European cup.

I’m sure a new Portugal superstar will arise, but I’ll never forget the hype and excitement he brought to the championships, and for a few games, buying into the hype along with the family.

10 minutes before the first picture, Luis called his mom the moment Portugal won the World Cup, tears streaming down his face. It’s a moment I will never forget. The entire restaurant was cheering for Luis’ team to win.

I believe all of us have this innate human trait that we want to see champions…we want to see people win big. It allows us for a short time to almost feel what winning big feels like in our own life, without having to put in the work to get there.

I’m no longer the young man who idolizes people who win, but I still keep the part of me I had as a young kid who wants to strive for greatness for moments of celebration.

Now to decide if I remain a staunch American or if I should any this Metherlands Neanderthal goofball Haaland to become the next superstar we all celebrate. šŸ¤”šŸ˜‰šŸ¤™

What’s your family’s favorite tradition growing up?

For longer than I can remember, my dad’s side of the family has all taken a week or more to spend together in Italy.

The last decade, we’ve stayed at the same hotel, eaten dinner at the same restaurant, played at the same two arcade locations and shopped and enjoyed all the same locations around them.

I don’t get to see my dad and this side of my family much more than this week every year, so it’s the most special week for me, Kristina and the kids.

As a child, I never fully appreciated how special this time was…it was just what we did every July.

As a father, I now understand that these meals and memories will last a lifetime.

We are building traditions for the next generation, knowing they too will say things like, ā€œremember that time we spent 4 hours at these trampolines until we could barely walk back?ā€ ā€œRemember the pink and white marshmallows we always added to our ice cream?ā€ And ā€œremember when Vito used to always reserve two full tables for us at 7pm, knowing there was always line of people at the entrance when we arrived at 6:55?ā€

Each year I seem to better understand the importance of traditions, and each year I have moments I find myself fully present, smiling at the thought of the memories our kids will be talking about in 20 years. 🄰🄰 by @mike.f.bauer

I wonder if adults ask kids what they want to be when they grow up because they’ve lost their own vision and creativity. šŸ¤” by @mike.f.bauer
