At yesterday’s Cochrane - Fountain City awards ceremony, I was honored to be named the inaugural inductee into the C-FC Alumni Hall of Fame. 🏴‍☠️✨🙏

No matter where life has taken me, I’ve always carried my time at C-FC with me. From Drama Club and Student Council to Italian Dunkers and study halls with Kam, the memories from the Class of ’98 still make me smile. Thank you for this honor.

Had the opportunity to hike Castle Rock Bluff yesterday with some of the best people around. The trail has only been in place for a few years, with ongoing efforts to make it safer and more accessible.

I grew up here… and somehow I’m just now seeing one of the most incredible views I’ve ever experienced. There’s something really special about rediscovering your own hometown and realizing just how much it has to offer.

People keep asking if I miss New York. Honestly? Sure, sometimes.

But tonight I sat in my backyard, looked around, and felt pretty lucky. Tulips coming up, bunnies rustling, birds chirping, eagles soaring, trees waking back up.

Out front, a barge moved down the Mississippi with the bluffs behind it.

Somewhere between the long winter and a busy season of saying yes to everything, Fountain City started to feel like home.

Life here is not perfect. The store still makes me anxious. There is plenty unfinished, including boxes I still haven’t unpacked.

But spring is here and summer is coming. And for the first time in a while, tonight felt like home. taken in Fountain City, Wisconsin by @mikeadank
