As National Adoption Month comes to a close, we’re wrapping it up with gratitude, pride, and so much love for the incredible families who make this community what it is.

Across the U.S., more than 135,000 children are adopted each year - each one gaining a family ready to show up, love fiercely, and create a lifetime of memories.

This month, we’ve celebrated the beautiful, diverse, and deeply meaningful ways LGBTQ+ families grow through adoption. Every photo shared - every smile, every milestone, every moment of joy - reminds us just how powerful family can be.

To every GWK family who opened your hearts and shared your journey with us: thank you. Your stories uplift others, inspire future parents, and shine a light on the love that defines our community.

As November ends, the celebration doesn’t. We’ll keep sharing your journeys, your photos, and the many ways your families thrive all year long.

The Corner Store is back in charming Fountain City. This historic establishment has returned with a new twist, offering a variety of beverages including espresso, lattes, hot chocolate, and sodas.

Stepping inside, customers are greeted with a nostalgic feel. There are a variety of gifts and goods available for purchase. It’s a place where stories, memories, and generations can come together.

Once home to early 1900s soda fountains and general stores, the space is being revived by Fountain City native and Broadway veteran Mike Adank, who has returned home to create a community driven space for locals and travelers alike.

The Corner Store has been a landmark for over a century. Stop in this holiday season and keep the tradition alive.

People keep asking why I’m reopening the Corner Store. The truth is, it’s not really about me. It’s about bringing back a place that’s always belonged to Fountain City, and carrying on a story that’s bigger than my own.

For the last 12 years I’ve managed operations on Broadway, an industry built on storytelling. Before that I directed live newscasts, sharing the everyday stories that connect communities. At the end of the day, the most meaningful story I can tell is right here at home.

I want the Corner Store to be a true cornerstone for Fountain City… a place where stories, memories, and generations come together again. A place where people feel at home, appreciated, and valued. My hope is that when you walk through these doors, you’ll feel the same sense of belonging that’s kept this corner alive for more than a century.

I’m distracting myself from real work with another sentimental post. But really, I can’t wait to welcome you in. 🍨☕️🎁

A familiar name. A new tradition.
I’m Mike Adank and I’m excited to be returning to Fountain City after years away in New York. Growing up, I would visit The Corner Store for a soda, ice cream, or just to say hello to Fran. I feel lucky to honor that legacy while creating a new sweet spot on Main Street. It’s time to come home, and I can’t wait to welcome you back to The Corner Store this Christmas season.
