Today was a good day!

XCC at Val di Sole MTB World Championships.
@jensschuermans got himself a 9th place!
I knew he had it in him, he did too, just needed the right time and place to happen.
Confidence today should help the XCO on Sunday!

As I continue to pack for @uci_mtbworldseries South Korea and the excitement that comes with going to a new venue. This is the start of my fourth World Cup MTB season with @giantfactoryoffroadteam and one of the ways I know it starting is when the @vcgraphix_ name/frame stickers arrive. It's the finishing detail to new bikes and equipment. It's the perfect finishing detail that lets me know it's time to start the season. Late last season I'd been working on finding just the right pressure gauge. I tried taking an EVT pressure gauge body and supplying my own gauge that read in bar. It was ok but required some resetting and just wasn't ideal.
"Borrowing" an idea from @jeanpierre_jacobs I spoke with @chrisheerschap to 3D print me (in aluminum) an adapter to take my @longacreracing digital pressure gauge and connect it to my @silca_velo presta chuck. This adapter let me use the stock bleed valve also.
The next hurdle was to eliminate the ill-fitting OEM black rubber bumper that came with the gauge. Chris 3D printed this red cover out of this fantastic material that protects it AND has my name in it. He sent me some other colors too 😉
So far it's been the best pressure gauge I've owned.

We hit the ground running here in 🇿🇦 about a week ago.

We've had several days of 📸 media shoots and 🥵 bike rides here, it was time for something different. The @giantfactoryoffroadteam took a few hours to do something non-bicycle related. We all piled in the cars and headed to @aquilasafaris for a sunset safari.

I've seen a few of these animals at zoos (in cages) back home, it's so much more impressive to see them "free range". To see the true size of the elephants as they walked past our tour truck was amazing. There were so many rhinos and zebras. This place is only a few hours from Cape Town and they do a spectacular job at keeping these animals safe and secure and away from trophy hunters. It was an amazing few hour tour with my second family (albeit some aren't here). #southafrica #giantfactoryoffroadteam #carterlearnedempathy #protectthesebeautifulanimals

All in all we got to see 4 of the big 5! If you ever get a chance, definitely do a safari. taken in Aquila Private Game Reserve & Safaris by @mikeberrymech

After watching the CX race in Mol 🇧🇪 today, with them racing in the ❄️. I recalled standing with @garywolff at Mol, in the snow, freezing 🥶, during the Covid cross season. Seems like a lifetime ago. 📸 @twilcha by @mikeberrymech

How do you wrap-up the 2025 season with @giantfactoryoffroadteam in only 20 photos?
What started with the epic mud in 🇪🇸, then down to 🇧🇷, over to 🇨🇿, then to 🇦🇹 & 🇮🇹 & 🇦🇩 & 🇧🇪 & 🇫🇷 & 🇨🇭& 🇺🇸 & finally ending in 🇨🇦.
Between prototyping a new @giantbicycles Anthem frame and wheels to the new @shimanomtb XTR di2 to watching @alanhatherly defend his @uci_cycling World Championships jersey on that new frame with those new components! It was a year full of amazing teamwork with some of the best teammates I could have.
The racing season may be over but the year isn't over yet, lots of planning, ordering and getting things ready for what's going to be another fantastic year next year.

New Shimano XTR Di2 battery charger box day!
I challenged my long time friend Butch Balzano to make @giantfactoryoffroadteam a Di2 battery charger box. Sent him an old Pelican case, a dozen chargers and a battery and said it needs to be able to use US and Euro voltage.

My transformation is almost complete!

Small "change" this week in 🇨🇭 and I will be supporting @jensschuermans and the other incredible athletes of 🇧🇪 @belgian_cycling at MTB World Championships.
Humbled to be included in this group of staff and athletes and work alongside some old and new friends.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my position and teammates at @giantfactoryoffroadteam (that have made it clear they miss me) but sometimes it's good to remember where we all started and it's great to be a part of developing future professional athletes, especially with such a legendary federation.

It is with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to The Fuzz.
He was almost 20 years old and had a personality all his own. He was the best napping companion we could have asked for.
The house is quiet now.
I still expect to see him every time I walk in the kitchen just sitting at his bowl, waiting.
