The @oldmansco Electrospective was an amazing show at @sfjazz with iconic tunes like “Still Warm” and “Techno” reimagined by @larrygoldings (keys), @oteil_burbridge (electric bass) and the unique jazz-funk drummer, @deitchadam. Two more nights, super highly recommended!

SOUND ON! Cindy Blackman Santana returns to KKB with music from her new album, Coherence, and a monster band featuring famed saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, Aurélien Budynek (guitar), Benny Rietveld (electric bass) and Oscar Williams on keyboards (replacing Zaccai Curtis). She is a true jazz-rock artist, having played with stars from Joe Henderson, Pharoah Sanders and Jackie McLean to John Medeski, Lenny Kravitz and of course, Carlos Santana. Cindy continues to build on the legacy of Tony Williams, thought by many to be the greatest drummer of all time. Tickets for Sat-Sun, Oct 24-25 are at keystonekornerbaltimore.com.

On my recent Carson Pass hike I made it to the base of mighty Round Top (el. 10,381'), but that was the end of the line. I'm thankful that I can still do this sort of thing, but it's definitely getting more difficult.

After lunch with old friends Joe Veni and @katieneubauerveni, I took a nice hike on the lovely east shore of Lake Tahoe.

Last month I did some hiking near Carson Pass once again. Here's a glimpse of Round Top Lake (el. 9,351') and Round Top (el. 10,381'). The geology of the area is very interesting, with various features of an ancient volcano.
