Rob Skala started skating before there were cars and surfed PNW breaks in the early days. He picked up a snowboard in 1976. One of the early riders at Mt Baker he had to get tested to ride lifts by the legend Carter Turk. Mt Baker LBS #36 was a soulful coming together with a race included. That’s the best part about it. Everyone wins. Never thought I’d be racing this long against OGs from the days of Craig Kelly, and still be competitive. Thank you for the honor to once again compete and congrats to all the duct tape holders and participants. Especially thank you to everyone who puts their life on hold for our benefit and gives their blood sweat and tears in putting on the most legendary of races. Speechless. What a weekend with our incredible snowboard community celebrating the roots of our sport, while enjoying a wild and fun race course and Mt Baker in supreme conditions! Congratulations to Duncan on retirement, and you sure ended with a bang with those rollers and the final turn 😎! Thank you to Amy and Gwyn and the entire Baker crew Mike, Sam, Britt, Parker, Elijah, many many more, Ona and Knut for delish grub, Fawcett for the endless wax wisdom, Hattrup for your stoke and passion, all the race crew, lodge crew, patrol, you continually put on the most incredible event.
