Happy New Year!

Ok, been Slaying in the new year so been away from the socials.

While out on the Slayground, I into familiar faces and met entirely new ones. Wanted to post this one from today while it's fresh.

Happen to run into @mikehattrup on the mountain this morning.

I've only hung out or ridden with Mike a handful of times, but we feel like old friends. I enjoy this human. We met at the PacWest Banked Slalomn. You learn a lot about a man when he rides a banked slalom. I learned Mike does it better than me..

What I like about Mike: he has a particular internal STOKE. Every time I see him, he's smiling and genuinely stoked to be there - wherever "there" is. Always bringing positive energy.

Since then, we see each other now and again at events or, like today, scoring a little pow.

Through Mike, I connected with @haugen_randy for the first time. He shared some local history and lore I hadn't heard before.

Hope to make turns with these guys again soon.

My First LBS @thelegendarybankedslalom weekend as a competitor was full of good times and good people! First off: thank you Duncan for inviting me to compete; thank you to all the staff and volunteers and competitors for welcoming me as a real snowboarder! 🤣 Team Kolla På Mig @pontus_staahlkloo and @pvinter for the tips and training; @jonnywavis for the support and hosting the most legendary house party; @hanglooseordie for inviting me to rock out at said house party; @krontonamo542 @landofwolves206 @bigtime_206 for Friday and Sunday musical meltdowns. I’m stoked I got to compete and I wildly exceeded my goals by making the finals in my category. Basically this mountain community is the shit and I’m so glad I get to call this place home. I wish I had a better story for my black eye but the truth is I saved a truckload of puppies from getting hit by an asteroid. I may have caught the supersonic space rock in the face but the puppies are fine.

Speechless. What a weekend with our incredible snowboard community celebrating the roots of our sport, while enjoying a wild and fun race course and Mt Baker in supreme conditions! Congratulations to Duncan on retirement, and you sure ended with a bang with those rollers and the final turn 😎! Thank you to Amy and Gwyn and the entire Baker crew Mike, Sam, Britt, Parker, Elijah, many many more, Ona and Knut for delish grub, Fawcett for the endless wax wisdom, Hattrup for your stoke and passion, all the race crew, lodge crew, patrol, you continually put on the most incredible event. Congrats to the #dolakwaxshack crew for some nice finishes! Loved seeing all of you there, and can’t wait to do it again next year! Same time same place!!
