Doing a tour with Mac of Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures feels like getting shown around by a friend and less like a tour. And, his new Maple Adventure: Jeep Tour & Taste is a great way to get outside this winter. Even in the snow and cold, we explored back roads and enjoyed winter mountain views, while staying warm and stress-free. The stories and local bits we learned from Mac were way more than expected too.

The Cabot Trail’s Margaree Valley is full of scenic surprises. One minute you’re driving through a forest, then big winter views sneak up on you and you’re overlooking huge vistas. Heading down some mountain roads, we met the owners of one of Cape Breton’s maple syrup farms, Margaree Valley Maple. After a few too many tastings (lol 😅), we snowshoed deeper into the property as Mac walked us through the whole maple process.

The Cabot Trail is like the cake, and Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures is the icing on top 🏔️❄️
