We’re going south of the border yet again as I’m highlighting a beer today called Mexi-Cali from a brewery @kingcongbrewing in Sacramento, Ca. This Mexican-style tan-amber lager is a nice light body crisp beer with a great combination of sweet and nut flavor. Mikesbrewz score: 7.1/10 ALC: 5.4% #beer #lager #amberlager #sacramentobeer by @mikesbrewz
Straight out of Vietnam comes a wheat beer, which I rarely share on here, that’s from @pasteurstreetcraftbeer which is wheat and passion fruit combined into one good beer. This light and pale beer has a firepower of passion fruit straight off the nose with the sweet-tart, which gives the citrus and grains a huge lift from the wheat malt itself. The taste is tart and bready with a nice crisp carbonation without the added artificial flavors. A perfect low-bitter beer for a hot day and a light meal. A new take on the pilsner recipe is here with ‘Storming Through the Party’ from @rosesbythestairsbrewing in Arizona. This Japanese-style pilsner collab with @ohsobrewery and @whistlepunkbeer has an abundance of aromas, from lemon zest and herbs to strawberry and lavender. The taste is light and bitter with a hint of spiciness from the hops and effervescence. The pearl rice in my opinion, really makes the floral in this beer one to behold. Definitely worth trying if you haven’t already. Mikesbrewz score: 8.5/10 ALC: 5% #beer #arizonabeer #pilsner #anniversarybeer by @mikesbrewz
True to the word, this beer is a up-and-coming California gem from The Leopard Mark Brewing called Sunlight Groove. This is a traditional light copper lager that’s brewed with toasted malt and caramel with an earthy and dry taste that leaves a crisp lager finish unlike any I’ve had. It was really nice talking to them @sfbeerweek and I hope they have an abundance of success in the future. Mikesbrewz score: 8.5/10 ALC: 5.2% #beer #lager #calibeer by @mikesbrewz
This beer is one for the artistic smartphone people that want a nice heavy brew called Shine Dream Smile from @breakside in Oregon. This golden yellow West Coast IPA, known for having the primer IPA hops in its recipe, is the first time the brewery has used Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic all in one beer. Its grapefruit, mango and tropical aroma blend well with the bitter taste. After the dry finish I have found a new liking to West Coast IPAs that I have never thought I would have in terms of hop profile. Baseball is here, and what better way to celebrate the start of the 2026 @mlb season than with a crushable lager from @highlandparkbrewery called Baseball Lager. This beer starts off with a nice golden pour, which leads to a bready aroma of lemony hops and orange peel that gives it a great crackery taste as well as a light malty kick. The finish is short and dry to the touch, which makes this a great beer for any sporting event or barbecue. Here’s to another birthday🍺! #happybirthday #birthdayboy #pices by @mikesbrewz
Happy St Patrick’s day everybody. In honor of the holiday, I be sippin on Hard Luck from @masonaleworks in San Diego. To keep it short, this red ale is a balanced sweet carmel malt backbone brew with a clean finish that is a moderately good beer for a St Pattys weekday of fun. As always drink responsibly and cheers☘️🍻. Mikesbrewz score: 9.5/10 ALC: 5.9% #beer #redale #stpatricksday2026☘️🌈🎩 #hardluck by @mikesbrewz
I’ve decided to explore out to a different zone of West Coast beer today with a gluten free pale ale from @otherwisebrewing called Western Addition. This beer, named after the hidden neighborhood in San Francisco with an abundance of history, pours rapidly clear, with its astonishing sheen and nice West Coast hoppy smell. The taste is super light for an American pale ale, but with a blend of citrus and pine along with earthy notes, makes this more of a medium-carbonated beer at the same time. Also, in lieu of barley, they have put in rice and millet, which bring out a more fruitier pale ale, which creates less of a linger as well for a smooth bitter finish. This brew truly lives up to the West Coast style of beer without the sacrifice. Mikesbrewz score: 7/10 ALC: 5% #beer #paleale #glutenfree #westernaddition by @mikesbrewz
It may be daylight savings time in the US, but to me it’s always standard time on the West Coast with Western Standard Time from @ismbrewing in Long Beach, California. This West Coast IPA pours stupidly clear with a nose unlike anything I’ve smelled. The nose is generously full of Mosaic and Simcoe along with grass and a hint of lemon. The taste is piney and fruity along with a note of Devil’s Lettuce. Lastly, the finish is well carbonated with a dry and bitter taste that is not too heavy for an IPA. Mikesbrewz score: 7.9/10 ABV: 6.7% #beer #ipa by @mikesbrewz
We’re on an American amber ale journey unlike anything I’ve had in Cali with Ol’ Rio from @kellybrewco in Morgan Hill. A rare breed, this bittersweet beer with its aroma of pine and citrus along with a nice dry-hopped malty finish has made me fall in love with light amber beers again. Mikesbrewz score: 7/10 ABV: 5.6% #beer #beerstagram #amberale by @mikesbrewz
Prospector Golden Ale from @hapasbrewing is a gem worth trying, as its name is derived from the gold rush of 1849. This shiny golden brew is full of Bavarian hop flavor along with pilsner malt and a sweet citrusy kick, which makes this a damn good February beer. Let’s tip our cap to those that conquered and discovered the beautiful American West that it is. Mikesbrewz score: 7.3/10 ABV: 4.9% #beer #goldenale #1849 by @mikesbrewz
