8 volunteers helped to sow wildflower seeds on the lower meadow this morning. We raked grass cuttings, broadcast seeds and stomped to ensure contact with the soil. Big thanks to community rangers Jess and Josh for prepping the ground by rotavating and volunteer ranger Dave for litter picking & strimming around the steps. Fly-tipped bed base also removed & reported for collection please @cardiff_council #elycardiff #volunteercardiff #tempotimecredits #meadows #wildflowers by @mill_road_friends

16 bags of rubbish (not all pictured here) and other fly-tipped items collected today around Mill Road Rec, Mill Road, Heol Y Felin and Birdies Lane. We also removed bindweed from the new trees & volunteer ranger Dave and Community Ranger Jess cut back brambles to improve access. Thanks to them and 12 volunteers for a brilliant morning. Re-arranged session for July- please join us if you can to help with watering, mulching and bindweed removal to keep the young trees healthy. Litter picking always needed if you prefer. We’re going to give Saturday afternoon’s scheduled work session a miss due to the heat (but thank you to Cardiff Council Ranger Jess for offering to change her shift). We’ll be doing some early morning and evening tree watering instead during the heatwave #cardiffparks #volunteercardiff #outdoorscardiff #conservationvolunteers #waterthetrees by @mill_road_friends

This morning myself and our students @lcm1_06 and @_ella.j_ visited Mill Road Park to remove an assortment of items from the Ely River! We pulled out 3 trolleys, 2 lawnmowers, an array of old bikes and scooters, along with carpet, piping and general rubbish. Sadly we had to leave a few trolleys behind!
Big shout out to the team, but also the @cardiff_council refuse team who arrived impromptu to collect the 6 bags of litter before we even got a picture! Diolch Pawb!
