Rainbowbody @gazelliarthouse Rainbow Body Performance is a durational installation-performance that explores the intersection of light, embodiment, and spiritual transformation. Drawing inspiration from the Tibetan Buddhist phenomenon of the “rainbow body” a state in which physical form is said to dissolve into pure light as a sign of transcendence, Brown’s work evokes the metaphysical dissolution and radiant energy of the human form. Suspended in the gallery space by rope, Brown inhabits a constellation of carefully arranged crystal prisms that refract and scatter light throughout the environment, activating the architecture and atmosphere of the white-cube space. Her still, suspended body serves as both a physical anchor and an energetic vessel, mediating between material presence and immaterial light. The performance unfolds over multiple hours daily, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where light, body, and environment merge. The shifting patterns of refracted light interact with Brown’s form, blurring boundaries between physicality and immateriality, presence and transcendence. In dialogue with Gazelli Art House’s concurrent exhibition Let There Be Light, Revisited, which paid homage to pioneers of the Light and Space movement including Mary Corse, DeWain Valentine, and Peter Alexander. Rainbow Body Performance expands this lineage by placing the body itself at the center of luminous transformation. Brown’s suspended form becomes a living embodiment of the rainbow body’s symbolic promise: a luminous dissolution and renewal beyond the confines of the physical. PHOTOSYMPHONY DINNER SERIES NY FRIEZE EDITION Sunday night during Frieze Week New York, Soho House Meatpacking hosted a site-specific edition of Photosymphony Dinner Series, based on Millie Brown’s living plant installation Photosymphony, A live plant orchestra and developed in collaboration with her sister, natural perfumer @beckieloub of @altraprofuture Through the recontextualization of living botanicals including agave and Persian shield, the installation explored a dialogue between man and nature, with the plants themselves generating an evolving soundscape through bioelectric frequencies. Natural and human-made sounds were paired in conceptual conversation, including the hum of bees with the hum of electricity, reflecting on coexistence, connection, and environmental fragility. Guests gathered around a plant-based dinner alongside botanically inspired cocktails by @herradurateq and @woodfordreserve , created in response to Beckielou Brown’s custom scent-scape for the installation. The agave moved between installation and ingredient, connecting the living plants, fragrance, cocktails, soundscape, and dining experience into one continuous sensory composition. Last week we presented Photosymphony: A Live Plant Orchestra Dinner Series at Soho House West Hollywood during Frieze Los Angeles. Photosymphony: A Live Plant Orchestra is a living plant installation by artist Millie Brown. Based on this work, the Photosymphony Dinner Series, created by Millie Brown and sister, perfumer Beckielou Brown, expands the installation into a multisensory dining environment where art, scent, and botanical cuisine converge. Presented as a living tablescape, guests dined among plant sculptures generating a living soundscape through biofeedback technology. The soundscape forms a conceptual dialogue between human and nature, allowing the frequencies of plants to become an audible presence within the space. A bespoke natural scent-scape created for the evening, together with plant-based dishes and botanically crafted drinks, extended the installation into a fully immersive sensory experience. Thank you to Soho House and their incredible team for hosting us during Frieze Los Angeles, and to the chefs and bar team for their beautiful botanical collaboration, completing the sensory landscape of the evening.
