PHOTOSYMPHONY DINNER SERIES NY FRIEZE EDITION

Sunday night during Frieze Week
New York, @milliebrownworld @beckieloub of @altraprofuture hosted a site-specific edition of Photosymphony Dinner Series at Soho House, based on Millie Brown’s living plant installation ‘Photosymphony’.

Through the recontextualization of living botanicals including Blue Agave, San Pedro cactus and Persian shield, the installation explored a dialogue between man and nature, with the plants themselves generating an evolving soundscape through bioelectric frequencies. Natural and human-made sounds were paired in conceptual conversation, including the hum of bees with the hum of electricity, reflecting on coexistence, connection, and environmental fragility.

Guests gathered around a plant-based dinner alongside botanically inspired cocktails by @herradurateq and @woodfordreserve, created in response to my custom scent-scape emanating from the plant sculptures - featuring notes of crushed stems, dewy leaves, bright citrus, anchored in earthy and woody undertones including a special oak wood Co2 extraction from aged oak casks, grounding guests in the environment and layering the sensory experience. The agave moved between installation and ingredient, connecting the living plants, fragrance, cocktails, soundscape, and dining experience into one continuous sensory composition.

Gjert Rognli is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, photography, sculpture, and performance. Deeply rooted in the Arctic landscapes of Northern Norway, his practice is shaped by the region’s extreme light, pervasive darkness, and shifting seasons. He channels nature’s raw forces into his work, infusing it with a sense of the surreal and the mythological. Rognli’s distinguished career is marked by numerous international awards in art, photography, television, and film. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the prestigious Louvre Museum in Paris. Furthermore, his films have carried their powerful message to global stages, being presented at the COP27 and COP28 climate conferences in Egypt and Dubai.

Eid Celebration for Gaza’s Children 🎉

Eid in Gaza is not what it used to be, but days like this bring back a piece of what it should feel like for children.

We spent the day with them through competitive and interactive games, activities, and PSS support, creating a space where they could simply play, laugh, and be kids again. Every game came with small prizes, every moment filled with energy that you could feel across the entire space.

At the center of it all, we brought in a full shawarma station and served 300 fresh, hot meals, along with 300 drinks and 300 desserts, prepared by our local partners. After a full day of play, the kids sat together and enjoyed their food, ending with sweets to mark Eid properly.

This day, generously sponsored by The Mustafa Family (@bint_bint_jazeelah), was a closing moment to an incredible Ramadan campaign that reached hundreds of thousands. Together, we delivered consistent nutrient rich iftar meals, clean water, groceries, quality clothing, dignified orphan support, a fully built musalla, Quran and educational initiatives, and spaces like this where children could find joy again.

Everything was done with care, dignity, and intention.

A huge thank you to our incredible ground team, who went above and beyond this Ramadan to provide aid in the best and most meaningful way, all while fasting and undergoing hardships of their own.
