If you are familiar with Mill Valley Track & Field, you are familiar with the success of the “Jav Squad.” 2026 was another season of great success, big performances and inspiring coaching.

From Coach Cory Wurtz:

“Javelin had a tremendous year adding to the programs’ all time marks and accomplishments. We had 3 Mill Valley High School Top Twenty All-Time throws for the boys and girls.

Girls:
Addisyn Price #2 137-4
Kenna Nichols #8 124-7
Corrine Schwidt #19 108-8

Boys:
Jenner Scobee #4 189-3
Jack Alley #8 175-2
Landyn Price 18 160-0

We qualified 4 javelin throwers for state competition. This is the 19th straight year of qualifying at least 1 javelin participant. 4 qualifiers matches 2009, 2018, 2021, and 2024 for our 2nd most qualifying in a single year, only falling short of 2017 when 5 qualified.

We brought home 3 state medals. That total matches 2010, 2017, 2021, and 2024 for 2nd most in a year, only falling short of 2009’s 4 medals.

Coach Weber and I are so proud of our group and their accomplishments. All 40 javelin throwers brought something unique to our squad. Thank you to our seniors for everything they have done for our program.”

After bringing home four state medals this weekend, including a GOLD MEDAL and a THREE-TIME STATE CHAMPION, we wanted to highlight our fantastic high jump crew and all they’ve accomplished this season.

A few words from Coach Brian McCollum:

“If you build it, they will come. When I started coaching high jump at Mill Valley in 2023, I had an idea of what I wanted to attempt to build. Build relationships, build trust and build a program.
 This past weekend, we sent 5 jumpers to Wichita to compete at the state track meet and just missed a 6th jumper that didn’t make the cut. Our 5 jumpers were the most to be qualified out of all classes and schools in the state. Of those 5 jumpers, 4 of those medaled and 2 of those jumpers from the girls are 3-time and 4-time medalists, one being the 3-time 6A State champion. This year, the first in 3 years we had not one, but 2 boys qualify. To say I’m extremely proud of these numbers, is a huge understatement.

Giving these athletes ownership in this program, they are helping to lay the foundation for future jumpers. This starts with great kids, getting them to buy in, to be committed and to gain an understanding of just how technical this event is. These kids have done exactly that and they are able to see, critique and diagnose their own jumps, which helps them visually understand exactly what corrections need to be made and to achieve those higher heights and hit their jumping goals. To see the kids do this, the enthusiasm they share, the support they give each other is truly amazing and it makes this high jump community very special.

What an honor it is to coach this sport and to watch the success that they help build.”

⭐️Boys 110mH: D. Johnson is a STATE CHAMPION with a SCHOOL RECORD (13.99)!! Sub 14!!
⭐️Boys Long Jump: Shorten is a STATE CHAMPION, winning with his final jump (22-6.50)!!
⭐️Boys 300mH: D. Johnson is two-time STATE CHAMPION, with another SCHOOL RECORD (38.13), and Bullard placed sixth, bringing home a STATE MEDAL (40.55)!
⭐️Girls 100m: Bausby made it through to finals (12.41), and then placed eighth (12.24)! Another STATE MEDALIST!
⭐️Boys Javelin: Scobee and Alley had a big day, with Scobee placing fifth (189-3), and Alley placing ninth (172-4)! Scobee is a STATE MEDALIST!
⭐️Girls Javelin: Price and Nichols put on a clinic, with Price placing fourth (137-4), and Nichols placing seventh (119-1)! Both STATE MEDALISTS!
⭐️Girls 4x800m: Pringle, Lamberson, Schmitdmann, and A. Johnson ran strong and placed 11th (10:19.58)!
⭐️Boys 4x800m: Malone, Anderson, Muttai, and Chongan are STATE MEDALISTS, placing fifth (8:04.21)!
⭐️Girls 1600m: A. Howard ran hard for fourth place, bringing home another STATE MEDAL (5:07.71)!
⭐️Boys High Jump: Carpenter had a big day placing third with a PR (6-6), and R. Howard tied for fifth (6-4)! Both STATE MEDALISTS!
⭐️Boys Shot Put: Nelson represented well, placing 16th (42-10.75)!
⭐️Boys 1600m: Strack is a STATE MEDALIST, placing eighth (4:25.44), and Schierbaum placed 16th (4:40.88)!
⭐️Girls 4x100m: Walker, Danielson, Huber, and Bausby are STATE MEDALISTS, grabbing eighth place (50.09)!
⭐️Boys 800m: Strack placed ninth (1:57.19), and Malone placed 11th (2:00.97)! taken in Cessna Stadium by @millvalleyxctf

⭐️Girls High Jump: Bain jumped strong (4-10), Pittenger placed sixth and is a STATE MEDALIST (5-2), and Strathman is a THREE-TIME STATE CHAMPION (5-7)!!
⭐️Girls Triple Jump: Alston is a STATE MEDALIST, placing second (38-4), an inch away from first!
⭐️Girls 3200m: A. Howard placed third in a tremendous race (10:49.56)! Another STATE MEDALIST!
⭐️Boys Pole Vault: Mack had three strong attempts, Beashore tied his PR (12-6), and Cooper tied for 10th (13-0)!
⭐️Boys 110mH Prelims: D. Johnson (14.11) and Custer (15.86) crushed prelims, with D. Johnson moving on and taking the fastest time into finals!
⭐️ Girls 4x100m Prelims: Walker, Danielson, Huber, Bausby had a fantastic run (49.46) and are moving onto finals!
⭐️Boys Discus: Gosch represented well with a strong finish to the season (135-10)!
⭐️Boys Triple Jump: Shorten had a great afternoon and is a STATE MEDALIST, placing eighth (44-8.25)!
⭐️Girls 400m Prelims: Diskin fought hard and narrowly missed finals (59.62)!
⭐️Boys 300mH Prelims: D. Johnson (39.05) and Bullard (40.43) both qualified for finals tomorrow!
⭐️Girls 4x400m Prelims: Diskin, Bausby, Huber, Walker fought hard, barely missing finals (4:02.70)!
