Schools on both sides of the Kansas-Missouri state line raced to the finish line on the Ray Pec campus at the KC XC Classic. The girls' varsity race produced a super close podium, with St. James just 2 points behind winners Mill Valley! The top Missouri girls' varsity team were St. Teresa. The boys' varsity team scores were not as tight — Ray Pec over Liberty North by 14 points — but the individual quality was apparent with 3 boys under 16:00 and 23 under 17:00!

The first day of the NCAA Championships was an eventful one for Kansas programs, highlighted by Kansas State's Tafadzwa Chikomba's first national title in the long jump, and the Wildcats' first in the event since 1951.

Kansas pole vaulter Anthony Meacham finished third overall, marking the ninth-straight year that the Jayhawks have had an All-American in the men's pole vault.

In the team race, K-State sits third behind Nebraska (28) and Oregon (18) with 16 points.

Before this weekend’s meets get rolling across the state, here’s the second set of KSXCT&F Power Rankings as we inch closer to the in-state postseason.

A quick note on methodology: class-specific rankings and all-class rankings are calculated independently, so a school’s placement may differ between the two.

Class rankings measure dominance within a classification, while all-class rankings measure the best programs in Kansas regardless of size.

Following a weekend that’s typically reserved for the Kansas Relays, we entered a new era with a handful of meets giving opportunities for Kansans to compete against the best of the best.

Including but not limited to the Great Bend Jack Bowman Invitational, the ESU High School Classic Relays, the BV West Elite Meet, and the inaugural Kansas City Relays, there were plenty of great meets across the region.

Check out this season’s second batch of KSXCT&F Girls Power Rankings!

Heading into the fourth weekend of competition this spring, and an unprecedented one as we enter the post-Kansas Relays era, it’s time to introduce the first edition of the KSXCT&F Power Rankings!

Every school’s ranking is determined by one thing: their athletes’ performances. Here’s how it works:

-Data pulled directly from meets uploaded to the MileSplit database
-Rankings are statewide and span all classifications, from 1A to 6A
-All 18 state-contested events are included
-The top 20 athletes or relay teams per event earn points on a 20-to-1 scale (1st = 20 pts, 2nd = 19 pts ... 20th = 1 pt)
-Athletes sharing the same mark and rank receive the same points
-Points are totaled across all 18 events to produce the final ranking
-No opinions or bias, meaning the rankings are purely based on the data

Should we break down rankings for all six classes too? 👀

Two weeks of track and field have come and gone, and athletes from across the state are already firing on all cylinders.

Not even three weeks into the season, a handful of competitors could challenge a few state records.

Here's the first set of Girls Outdoor Rankings for the 2026 campaign!

It is going to be cold this weekend! Go, right now, and get your laptop out of your car and plug it in to fully charge! We have finals next week and I don’t need you coming in with laptops that won’t turn on because they got too cold. Do it. Right now. You will thank yourself come Monday morning! 🥶

I’m excited to announce that I will be committing to Emporia State University to continue my cross country and track career. I’d like to thank my teammates, coaches, and parents for always supporting me, looking out for me, and believing in me. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. I would also like to thank Coach Hill and Coach Henry for giving me this amazing opportunity and allowing me to further my running career.
