Most of us step outside each morning checking the weather, not the air. 🌦️
Yet the small particles suspended around us — the ones we rarely think about — can shape how clearly we think during a meeting, how well we focus on a task, even how patient we feel in traffic. 🧠

Air quality works quietly in the background — not something we may immediately notice, but present in every breath.

Recognising that connection helps place air quality alongside the other everyday factors that influence how we feel and function.
A small shift in awareness can help us make choices that support both our physical health and our emotional well-being. 🌱

On World Diabetes Day, a reminder that diabetes management goes beyond glucose readings. The emotional demands of daily monitoring, food decisions, and the fear of blood sugar highs and lows can quietly affect mood, motivation, and wellbeing. Depression, anxiety, and diabetes distress are common, valid, and treatable. Recognising these signs early and seeking support can make diabetes care more manageable and sustainable. Mental health is an integral part of diabetes health.

💜 21st September – World Alzheimer’s Day reminds us of the growing challenge of dementia worldwide. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common cause of dementia, accounts for 60–70% of cases. It develops due to abnormal protein deposits in the brain, which damage nerve cells and gradually shrink the brain tissue.

Early signs go beyond memory loss—confusion, difficulty communicating, problems with daily tasks, changes in mood or behavior, and challenges in planning or decision-making.

While there is no cure yet, early diagnosis, healthy lifestyle choices, and supportive care can slow progression and improve quality of life. Awareness is the first step—together, we can reduce stigma and stand by those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. 🧠✨

Sleep Hygiene Tips
...

Sleep Hygiene is defined as behaviors that one can do to help promote good sleep
...
...

• Go to the bed at the same time and wake up at the same time

▪If you are unable to sleep at the fixed time, don't lie on the bed. Sit on a sofa in the dark. Do not watch TV or use the internet during this period. Return to the bed when you are sleepy. At whatever time you are able to put yourself to sleep, ensure the wake up time remains the same. This creates a sleep debt and regulates sleep over the next few days

▪ Avoid daytime naps

▪Use bed only for sleep or sex. Never for watching TV or having food or for work

▪Avoid exercise, coffee, tea, soda, cigarette, alcohol immediately prior to sleeping

▪ Keep the clock and mobile away at night

▪ Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, relaxing, and at a comfortable temperature

▪Regular physical exercise and spending time outside during the day can help

World Suicide Prevention Day, observed on 10th September, highlights suicide as a critical global health issue. Every year, more than 700,000 people die by suicide—one life lost every 40 seconds—making it the second leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds. With 75% of suicides occurring in low- and middle-income countries, the need for awareness, early intervention, and accessible mental health care is urgent. Suicide is preventable, and through reducing stigma, fostering compassion, and strengthening community support, we can work together to save lives.

It started with a headache… and a quick Google search said it might be a brain tumor. Sound familiar? If you find yourself constantly checking your body, obsessively Googling symptoms, or visiting multiple doctors but never feeling reassured — the problem may not be in your body. You might be living with Illness Anxiety Disorder. Even when every test comes back clear, your mind keeps asking: “What if they missed something?” “What if it’s serious?” The fear is real — but so is the help. With the right support, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), you can break the cycle and reclaim your life.

Ever felt disconnected from yourself or the world around you—like you're watching life from the outside?

That could be Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder (DPDR).
It's a real, often terrifying experience where people feel detached from their body, thoughts, or surroundings—like they're in a dream they can't wake up from.

DPDR isn't dangerous or a sign of “going crazy.” It's the brain’s way of coping with overwhelming stress, anxiety, or trauma.

🧠 With the right support—therapy, grounding tools, and nervous system regulation—many people recover. 💫

“June is PTSD Awareness Month.
PTSD can happen after any life-threatening or deeply distressing event.

A car crash. A medical emergency. A violent attack. Natural disasters. Childhood abuse.
Even witnessing something traumatic — can leave lasting scars.

It doesn’t always show up immediately.
Sometimes it’s panic, nightmares, or sudden fear. Other times, it’s avoiding places, emotional numbness, or being constantly on edge.

It can feel like your body is stuck in danger — even when the danger has passed.

PTSD isn’t weakness. It’s your brain’s way of trying to protect you after something terrifying.

You can feel safe again. With help, recovery is possible. The past may echo, but it doesn't have to be your home. There is life beyond survival.

Grief isn’t something you “get over.” It’s something you learn to carry — a shape that shifts but never fully disappears. It comes in waves: sharp, unexpected, and often quiet. Managing grief doesn’t mean pretending to be okay. It means giving yourself permission to feel, to pause, to remember. It means reaching out, resting when needed, and allowing joy to coexist with sorrow. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting — it means finding ways to live with the love that remains.

How to talk to children about Death?

✓ It is important to tell the truth about what has happened rather than saying things like grandpa has become a star or that he has gone to deep sleep

✓ The parent should give concrete details about what happens when someone dies- they cannot drink, eat, talk, walk etc

✓ Make sure to use the words dead, passed away etc

✓ You may share information in doses, but
Never hide grief from the child
✓ Never hesitate to share memories of the deceased
✓ Never hesitate to cry openly with your child

✓ Give the children time to absorb the information
Do not push children to resolve their grief before they are ready to do so

✓ Talk about thoughts and feelings
✓ Encourage the child to ask questions and talk about the person who has died

✓ Prepare children for life without the love one
✓ Prepare children for what they may see in rituals/ funeral

✓ Do not change your daily routine. This helps instill a sense of security and normalcy for the child
