POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
🌿 We would like to shine some long overdue light on our first label release. A record that has quietly been out in the world for a few months now, but never truly received the presentation and attention it deserved. We wanted to take this opportunity to revisit it properly, show it to you up close and tell a bit of its story.

The 4 tracks on this record, aside from being really special pieces of music, represent a small selection from a much bigger, unreleased body of work, created by our friend @aburelius circa 2020-2021. It was conceived during a music retreat in his native northern romanian home where the author traded the loud and dynamic urban life for the stillness and quiet vibrancy of his lushly natured home village. The process of working on Natura was one of finding solace through study, nature and sound in an increasingly tense and strange world.

We first came upon this album a few years ago and it instantly touched our hearts. At the time, we didn’t fully realize what we had found, and it took more than a year of frequent revisits before we finally understood that this music needed to go out into the world. In more ways than one, this record is what prompted the birth of our label, and we are immensely grateful to @aburelius for creating it, to @lirica__archives for believing in it, and to everyone else who helped us along the way.

Here's an overdue look back at our August 29 outing at WWW.

The twelve-hour courtyard experiment and Mindfares’ first foray into dancefloor territory turned out exactly as we hoped it would. You showed up in big numbers to the somewhat strange proposition of exploring more interesting facets of the electronic spectrum across an entire afternoon and night. That meant largely ignoring the usual logic of club programming and giving curiosity and discovery precedence over the more straightforward business of making people dance.

At the end of the day, we’re mostly trying to make the kind of things we’d like to see happening around us more. It’s quite encouraging to find out that many of you seem to be wanting the same things.

Many thanks to WWW for hosting us, to all the artists who trusted the idea and played their respective parts brilliantly, to everyone who helped us build the playground and most of all to you who came and inhabited it with us.

see you soon

P.S. - If you want to see more stuff like this happening around you, support your local artists and promoters! Attend events you believe in, small or big, buy tickets in advance, spread the word. This is how we grow. by @mindfares

We've always had a direct and intimate connection to the dancefloor so it was only a matter of time before @mindfares curated a night (and day) of its own. On August 29th, we’re making the move alongside none other than @pressure.nights, joining forces for twelve hours in the WWW outdoor courtyard; half audition, half party and no indication which is which.

Taking a cue from the chillout and backrooms of the 90s, the day will begin spacious and unhurried, with the boundaries between ambient, electronics and techno deliberately left unclear. As daylight disappears from the courtyard, things will gradually tighten and rhythms will become harder to ignore.

Two live performances and a cast of DJs, including canadian guest @da.u.ra, will occupy a high-fidelity quadraphonic sound system across the day and night. Just as important will be everything surrounding it. We’re treating the courtyard as more than somewhere to put a soundsystem: light, objects, arrangement and mise-en-scène are all part of the proposition. A little world to disappear into for twelve hours.

No abrupt switch from listening session to party, no prescribed moment when one becomes the other. Just an afternoon allowed to slowly change its shape as it moves into the night.

August 29th, 6PM - 6AM, WWW outdoor courtyard, tickets available now.

🛰️ Half audition and half party, there's 12 hours of music to account for, so it's time to introduce the remaining suspects; the five deejays entrusted with navigating all the strange spaces between afternoon listening and nighttime dancing.

@anaamaier gets first dibs on the courtyard, opening proceedings at 18:00 with two hours somewhere around ambient techno and downtempo, before handing over to Atmann for the first live set of the day.

Moving on, Gazette veteran @dannilov__ takes over with a bag of future electronics, IDM and various machine music, setting the table for the second live set of the day: Startrec and his modulars.

Our main guest Daura is on from 23:30 for 3 and a half hours. Afterwards, Mindfares’ own @superuser____ will attempt to pick up the pieces before cuties @bogdanxxd and Pressure Nights boss @centrifugazzi are handed the keys for the final stretch.

It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Come early, stay late, as they say.

August 29th, WWW outdoor courtyard.

👥 Two familiar faces return to Mindfares. @_startrec_ and @atmannm have a bit of shared history with us. Both were part of an intimate tea house edition we held some years back and both have since contributed some wonderful recordings to our podcast series.

It feels fitting to have them together again on August 29th, this time both presenting their own music live.

Startrec will bring his modular setup back into play, this time pulling at the slower, more spacious threads of his usual technoid vocabulary. Leaning into the murkier territory between ambient and rhythm, his set arrives just as the evening begins to gather momentum.

Atmann will be reaching back into years of productions from the quieter end of his catalogue. Ambient and experimental excursions written across different periods will be pulled apart, revisited and reshaped live.

August 29th, WWW outdoor courtyard, 6pm -> 6am.

🪞Daura’s wandering path reaches Romania for the first time this August. Montreal-born and now based in Brussels, her journey across the Atlantic has gradually taken her into some of the most interesting corners of clubland.

She is one of those DJs whose name seems to travel quietly between people and outfits whose musical judgement we trust. We kept spotting her at places like Vlada's Spell in Berlin or Stilio in Stockholm, precisely the sort of small, discerning parties and booths that still pay close attention to who stands behind the decks.

A digger in the truest sense, with a record bag that seems governed more by curiosity than by genre makes her feel particularly right for our own first venture deeper into dance floor territory.

She’ll take over at 23:30 right after Startrec's live set, another departure from the usual programming you might be used to. Rather than saving our main guest for the depths of the night, we want her to catch things while they’re still changing shape and take them somewhere of her own.

Float Radio is a collaborative project built on pacing, restraint, and a careful attention to detail. Baba likes music that knows when not to rush. With an undeniable pull towards the aquatic, their sound drifts, settles, and finds its place naturally, never forcing the moment, always trusting the current.

Startrec is many things: synth nerd, sci-fi obsessive, psychedelia enthusiast, collector of sounds both restless and sleepy. Baba simply thought the forest should meet him. Find a patch of shade, stay a little longer than planned, and let the rest sort itself out.

Jill Sans seems to collect worlds more than genres. Baba finds that much more interesting. Ambient, leftfield textures, hypnotic techno, browser synths, video game soundtracks and beautifully odd ideas all end up speaking the same language. Turns out curiosity sounds pretty good.

Some records ask you to dance. Others ask you to listen a little closer. Diana Driș never felt the need to choose between the two. Baba certainly wasn’t going to. Her selections balance depth, texture, and raw organic rhythms with the kind of ease that makes it all feel effortless.

Andria Obor knows better than to rush a good story. Baba settled in from the very first record. Patient grooves, subtle shifts, and just enough mischief keep things moving until you suddenly realise the dancefloor has quietly become your favourite place to be. by @mindfares

Our next offering comes from fellow neighbour and dedicated listener, FM Eyes. An airy and elusive recording, the mix unfolds with a remarkable lightness, its delicate textures drifting in and out of focus like passing weather. Though restrained in its gestures and subtle in its movements, it never feels sparse; beneath its featherlight surface lies a wealth of detail that reveals itself beautifully.

thanks to @nnnnnnihai for recording

We first heard about Que Sakamoto (@quesakamoto) a while ago through his wonderfully weird, long-running 思向と発想 (Thoughts and Ideas) show on Mutant Radio from Tbilisi.

Since then he has gone on to tour the world, building a reputation for adventurous musical excursions that move intuitively through experimental electronics, psychedelia and left-field dance. He is constantly focusing on his roots, drawing from overlooked Japanese music from the 70s through the 90s and exploring ways of reconnecting those sounds to younger generations and contemporary listening spaces.

For this mix, he leans fully into that direction with a selection composed entirely of Japanese music — a deeply personal listening session that feels both archival and alive.

📯 there are moments that resist too much explanation, that don't quite resolve into words; this was one of them

a sincere thank you to the Unitarian Church, lovely Margaux, to everyone that was there and to everyone that made this experience possible.
