I really love this view. The warmth of the curved CLT staircase, the rhythm of the vertical screening and that quiet connection to the landscape beyond.
The play between light and shadow, the timber structure overhead, the rhythm of the black screening and the way the spaces unfold as you move through the house.

The Sapling house was a great achievement, it demonstrates a low carbon footprint for a new home due to its innovative use of cross-laminated timber (CLT). The project achieved a Passivhaus Premium certification which is the highest achievable class. The house is sitting with an average indoors temperature of 22 degrees so far all winter and supplying fresh filter air through a heat recovery ventilation system (HRV). The house is also generating approximately 4 times the energy than it is using leaving the clients with no electricity bills!

Pocket Passiv is Australia’s smallest certified Passivhause. This cute tiny house nestled in the backyard of a main residence in Glebe has a footprint of only 27m2. This compact dwelling has excelled and won a handful of awards. The latest and most prominent being the award for sustainable architecture 2024 by the NSW Institute of Architects. A great result for all involved and a huge statement for Passivhaus builds.

We are proud as punch to achieve our first Passivhaus Plus build. This studio produces about as much energy as residents would consume, achieving a net-zero energy balance!
