Rest has become one of those words we hear all the time.

"Get more rest."
"Don't forget to rest."
"Rest is productive."

But what does rest actually mean? 🤔

It isn't always naps or doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes rest looks like putting your phone down. Saying no to one more commitment. Going for a walk. Spending time with people who make us feel like ourselves again. Or simply giving ourselves permission to stop for a while.

The truth is, our version of rest won't look the same as anyone else's. And that's okay ❤️

In our latest blog, we're exploring what real rest can look like, why it's so important for our wellbeing, and how we can start building more of it into everyday life.

Hi, I’m Maya, an intern this semester at mindhamok and a psychology student studying abroad in Rome. I wanted to share what a day in my life abroad looks like :)
Every day here looks a little different, between my internship, classes, and exploring a new city, but one thing I’ve learned is how important it is to check in with myself. Whether that’s grabbing a coffee, taking a walk through Rome, or slowing down for a minute, making space for myself has made all the difference #mindhamok #dayinmylife #studyabroad by @mindhamok

Earth Day can feel like a big concept, but it often comes down to small, everyday moments. The way we move through our environment, the spaces we choose to spend time in, and the attention we give to the world around us all play a role.

It’s easy to overlook how much our surroundings impact us. Fresh air, sunlight, and green spaces can shift our mood in subtle but meaningful ways, especially when life feels busy or overwhelming.
Taking a moment to step outside, slow down, and notice what’s around you is not insignificant. Those pauses can help ground you more than you expect.

Caring for the Earth doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Small, intentional choices matter, and so does simply appreciating the environment that supports us every day.
Happy Earth Day🌎💗

Finals week can feel like everything all at once. The pressure to perform, the long nights, the constant feeling that you should be doing more builds up quickly, even if you’ve been keeping up all semester.
It’s easy to forget, in the middle of all of that, how much you’ve already done to get here. The lectures you showed up to, the notes you took, the small moments of effort that add up more than you realize.
Stress during this time is normal, but it doesn’t define your ability or your worth. You’re allowed to take breaks, to step away for a moment, and to not have everything feel perfectly under control.
Good luck on finals. We’re rooting for you💗

Hi I’m Charlotte an intern this semester at mindhamok. I wanted to share what a day in my life studying abroad in Rome looks like!!🇮🇹😊🫶 While not everyday is the same I’ve learned how important it is to check in with myself, whether that’s grabbing a coffee alone, going for a walk, or just slowing down for a minute.

Studying abroad is amazing, but it can also be overwhelming at times, and taking care of your mental health is just as important as making memories. Giving myself grace, staying present, and finding balance has made this experience even better 💛 by @mindhamok

We’ve been looking back on the places that really stuck with us during our time abroad.
In Dublin, Charlotte’s favorite was one of the well known pubs in the city. The music, the crowd, and being there with her friends made it feel like the kind of place you remember because of how fun it was, not just what it looked like.
In Prague, Maya’s favorite was sitting on a ledge overlooking the city. Seeing all the rooftops and the skyline from above didn’t feel real. It was one of those moments where everything just slows down for a second.
It’s been so fun sharing the spots that made each city feel special to us. More to come #mindhamok #TravelSpotlight #StudyAbroadMoments by @mindhamok

University can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. Between academic pressure, figuring out your future, and trying to balance everything at once, a lot of students struggle more than people realize.
For students studying abroad, those feelings can be even more complicated. Being in a new country, far from the people and routines that usually support you, can be both amazing and really challenging at the same time.
This University Mental Health Day (12 March) is a reminder that connection matters. Whether it’s the friends you meet along the way, the people back home, or simply knowing other students are going through the same ups and downs, you’re never as alone as you might feel.

We’re continuing our series sharing some of the places that really stood out to us while being abroad.

In Switzerland, Maya’s favorite was Interlaken. Being surrounded by the Alps and seeing the mountains up close was incredible. It was one of those places where you just stop for a second and take it all in because the views feel like a postcard.

In Paris, Charlotte’s favorite was the Eiffel Tower. Even though it’s a famous landmark, seeing it in person is really special. Standing there and looking up at it while being in the middle of the city is something that just sticks with you.

That’s what this series is about. Sharing the places that made each city feel a little more memorable for us while traveling. More to come 🌎

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and voices of women everywhere. 🌸
For women living, studying, or working abroad, that strength is often tested in many ways such as navigating new cultures, distance from home, and the emotional weight of change. Today is a reminder that support, community, and care from the women around us allow us to truly be ourselves and connect. Wherever you are in the world, you don’t have to carry it alone. 🤍 by @mindhamok

Take a moment today to look around and appreciate the wildlife around you. 🌍🐾

In the rush of everyday life, pausing to notice the natural world can be a quiet reset ,an opportunity to clear your head, slow your breathing, and reconnect with the present moment. Nature has a way of grounding us, reminding us that we’re part of something bigger. This World Wildlife Day, give yourself permission to step outside, take a deep breath, and let that connection support your mental well-being. 🤍 by @mindhamok

Travel Spotlight 🛫
We’re kicking off a little series to share some of the places that really stayed with us while being abroad.

In Vienna, Charlotte’s favorite was the Sisi Museum. She loved how personal it felt and how it let you connect with the history in a way that didn’t feel like just walking through another museum.

In Budapest, Maya’s favorite was Fisherman’s Bastion. The view is incredible, but what made it special was the feeling of being up there. It was quiet, a little surreal, and one of those moments where you just stop and take it all in.

That’s what this series is about. The places that make a city feel more real, more grounding, and a lot more memorable. More to come 🌍 💛
