There are still blueberries - the best tasting ever. And if you’ve enjoyed our blueberries before, you know that’s a high bar. Believe it or not, the best time to pick for human comfort is around 5-6pm when the humidity levels are at their lowest for the day. You will still need a hat because the sun is still pretty hot. The best time to pick to have an easier time finding plump berries is early morning. But that’s when humidity is at its highest for the day. So you choose what better for you - we’re open either way.

Blueberries are still going strong! The branches are bending under the load. It’s lovely in the orchard this morning with a gentle breeze and temps are reasonable. Come pick berries all weekend, 6am - 7pm. Open the same hours all week as well!

Pawpaw and fig seedlings now available. The pawpaws are mixes of NC-1, Wells and Mango. There is one 2-year seedling, several 1-yr-old and several that sprouted early this spring. The figs are started from cuttings from what was sold to us as a Celeste, but I think they are Adriatic figs - these are large, round, green figs that are very sweet. Grown near a heated structure, the parent tree is close to 20’ tall and gives us buckets of figs every year. #seedlings #figs #fruittrees #orchard #plant taken in Minka Farm by @minkafarm

It’ll be a bumper crop IF the drought doesn’t continue… It’s the farmer mantra: it will be a great year IF [add farming challenge of choice] doesn’t happen. Finger’s crossed.

Baling spring hay…in August?! Crazy weather this year meant there wasn’t enough dry days in a row to bring in all the spring hay.
