Everyone talks about Sri Lanka’s “slow season” but we prefer to call it green season.

The truth is, Sri Lanka doesn’t really have an off season. We’re a tropical island. Rain comes and goes, often in short bursts and life carries on in between long after the rush of tourists dies down. The ocean is warm, the sunsets still stop you in your tracks and there’s something incredibly peaceful about having a little more space to enjoy it all.

For those of us who call this place home, life doesn’t pause. Shopkeepers still open their doors each morning. Families still gather for dinner. Children still make their way to school. The markets are still full of familiar faces and everyday conversations. The rhythm of the south never really stops.

We hope more people begin to see Sri Lanka beyond its peak season. Not just as a destination to tick off at a certain time of year, but as a place that’s alive every single day. Choosing to visit during the green season doesn’t just give you a quieter, more intimate experience. It also helps support the people and small businesses who are here long after the holiday crowds have moved on.

If anything, the green season has its own kind of magic. The landscapes are lush, everything feels a little calmer and you get to experience the south coast without the peak season crowds. Maybe it’s time we stopped calling it the slow season altogether… by @mint.ceylon

Not to brag, but nature really outdid herself on these 🌿

Made using real natural pigments, leaves and flowers, each eco dyed silk sarong carries its own unique imprint from nature. Which is the whole point. Mass production could never 🤌🏻✨ by @mint.ceylon
