When Dylan first came through the doors he wasn’t in a great place with his fitness. He’d gained a lot of weight and his big goal was simple……get himself back in shape so he could return to football.

In the video you’ll see the difference in just a month or two. He’s leaner, sharper, and boxing like he’d never been away.

The graft he put in here didn’t just change how he looked, it gave him the confidence and fitness to step back on the pitch.

Fast forward to now, and he’s already a few seasons deep back in football. Exactly what he set out to do.

This is what I love about boxing training, it’s not just about boxing. It’s a tool that can transform every area of your life if you’re willing to show up and put in the work.

Just over 2 months in our new home 🇪🇸❤️ so much has happened, even managed a whirlwind trip back to Scotland for Conlan 5th Bday and seeing our family and friends and meeting baby Callie 🥹❤️
The last 2 months have defo been filled with some challenges, Gary stopped with the police breaking down 😭 3 of us getting locked out and Gary losing his tooth (AGAIN)
But we have also been blessed with some highs, Conlan thriving in Spanish school, meeting lovely new friends and having lots of family time 🙏❤️

Bringing a bit of Scottish boxing to Spain 🥊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

When I first walked around Underground Boxing Club, I noticed that apart from the great Benny Lynch, there was a real lack of Scottish fighters represented at the club.

While I was back home, I managed to collect posters off of some generous Scottish boxing club owners and fighters.
These posters are of people who have played their own part in our boxing history:

Brian Carr, Barry Morrison, Ricky Burns, Scott Harrison, Kevin McIntyre, Kevin Anderson, Alex Arthur, Aston Brown, Paul Kean, John Simpson, Paul Appleby and Ryan Brawley.

Some I’ve watched, some I’ve known personally and some I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. Every one of them deserves their place on a boxing-gym wall.

A wee piece of Scotland now has a permanent home here in Spain. Hopefully there will be plenty more added in the future. 🥊

Great having one of my former clients @carrstav from Scotland back in for a session today, this time joined by the team from @plasteringperfect

They’re over in Spain working on his holiday home, so we got the gloves on and put the full team through a proper boxing session 🥊

Plenty of hard work, healthy competition and good laughs along the way.

🥊 NADSZEDŁ CZAS POWROTU! 💪🔥

Po dwóch latach przerwy, zawieszeniu kombinezonu i odłożeniu kasku motocyklowego przyszedł czas, żeby wrócić i rozpocząć zupełnie nowy rozdział.

Długo szukaliśmy odpowiedniego miejsca i w końcu trafiliśmy do prawdziwego podziemia bokserskiego @underworld_boxing_la_zenia 🤜🤛

Przed nami nowa droga, nowe wyzwania i przede wszystkim ciężka praca. Będziemy szkolić się w szermierce na pięści pod okiem @mintboxing i Lloyd Sam Sambor 💪

Na rolce możecie zobaczyć moją aktualną formę oraz fragment meczu Hiszpania vs Walia !

🥊 FURY vs AJ. WHO YOU GOT?

How many times have we heard this fight was happening over the years? 😂

Fury became heavyweight champion in 2015. AJ won his first world title in 2016.

Two British heavyweights. Two massive personalities. A fight the whole country and world wanted to see.

Then came the negotiations, the failed attempts, the retirements, the comebacks and the defeats.

I genuinely got to the stage where I thought we’d never see these two share a ring.

Then I remembered this game is about one thing…….

MONEY.

No amount of achievement or legacy gets in the way of making money in boxing….

Would I rather have seen them fight when they were both world champions? Absolutely.

Am I still excited to see them finally settle it? 100%.

From a boxing point of view, I actually think the mental side of this fight is fascinating.

Both have experienced the highest highs and lowest lows the sport has to offer. Both have had to rebuild themselves after defeat.

This isn’t the same Fury or AJ we were talking about ten years ago.

The question now is who’s got more left in the tank?

So, after all these years, who are you backing?

Canelo Álvarez has moved his latest training camp to Spain. 🇪🇸🥊

Maybe he heard Mint Boxing was now operating over here and wanted to get booked in for a session…

I’m still waiting on the message, Canelo. 😂

Joking aside, it’s interesting to see one of boxing’s biggest names change his entire environment ahead of such an important fight.

Canelo spent years training in the familiar surroundings of San Diego. Lake Tahoe later gave him altitude, isolation and a completely different physical challenge.

Now he’s based in Gandía, working in facilities used by Oleksandr Usyk’s team before challenging Christian Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight title in Riyadh on 31 October.

A new environment can sharpen the mind, remove distractions and bring fresh energy. The location won’t win the fight on its own, although the work completed there might.

Mint Boxing is also officially up and running here in Spain, with private boxing and fitness sessions available around Cabo Roig, La Zenia and Orihuela Costa.

This is where I struggle with PEDs in boxing.

Ryan Garcia tested positive for ostarine following his fight with Devin Haney. The win was overturned to a no-contest and he received a one-year suspension.

Conor Benn’s situation ended differently.

Benn returned two positive VADA tests involving clomifene. He maintained his innocence throughout. The later UKAD case was dismissed after an independent panel concluded it was not comfortably satisfied that UKAD had proved an anti-doping rule violation for the use of clomifene. UKAD chose not to appeal.

That distinction matters.

My issue here is bigger than Garcia or Benn.

Boxing is different.

You’re not trying to put a ball in a net or cross a finish line quicker than somebody else.

You’re getting into a ring with the intention of physically hurting the person standing opposite you.

I’ve boxed professionally. I’ve been in those changing rooms. I know the risks fighters accept when they walk through those ropes.

That’s why PEDs in boxing have never sat right with me.

We only know about the tests somebody fails. We can’t responsibly claim what happened before those tests, although it raises an uncomfortable question about trust once a fighter has returned a positive result.

Boxing can have devastating consequences even when both fighters compete clean.

So where should the line be?

Should serving a suspension mean a fighter has paid the price and deserves the opportunity to move on?

Should combat sports be treated differently, with much harsher consequences for PED offences given what’s potentially at stake?

One of these men will leave Las Vegas a world champion.

Should a positive PED test ever be forgiven in boxing?

Yes or no? Tell me why.
