I’ve realized rating is very personal so I though it might be a good idea to explain mine.

I rate books mostly for my own benefit. It helps me to be able to go back and see my overall opinion on a book when the next book in a series is released.
Or when an author releases something new and I forgot if I liked their writing style or not.

So here it is, nothing fancy and I don’t know if anyone gives a f*ck but this is how I rate the books I’ve read 😁

These are the books that made a huge impact on me as a reader so far.
Define might not be the right word but these are books that has somehow become personal to me.
So, if you’re wondering who I am as a reader, perhaps these books will tell you something.
Also, I’m a very private person so this post makes me feel like I’m naked in a f*cking conference room.

I hesitated to pick up this fourth book in the Lucky river ranch series.
The previous book had too much spice for me and I just wasn’t feeling it.

So I took a break and read Cresent city before picking this up.
Ended up hating Crescent city though and came back to this 🫣

I’m finding it hard to rate these books.
They’re not bad but not anything special either. Definitely worth reading but I’m not saving the books to do a re-read in the future.
They’re fine. But that’s it.

September Audio reads

Fourth wing introduced me to this genre, but ACOTAR got me hooked.
So I did a re-read of them.
I loved these books the first time I read them and was a bit worried that re-reading them now would ruin them for me.
But no. These books are masterpieces.
My favorite is ACOSF and the only one I gave five stars.
I wish I wasn’t exited for the next couple of books due to how the publishers are treating fans, but I am.
I’m so damn exited I’m annoyed with myself.

Since I thought I only got to use my hubs audio for September only, I decided to make the most out of it and tried out a bunch of series and authors that I’ve been curious of for a while but not enough to buy the actual books.

So while I finished the whole ACOTAR books on the first page, if you swipe, the second and third page are of the books that caught my interest enough for me to buy the actual books and read later on.
So I’ve only read a few chapters of those, about 4 - 30 min each and it turned out to be a great way to select which ones to buy and read later on and which ones to remove from my list.
I doesn’t take a lot of pages for me to decide if the writing is for me or not.
I’m kind of petty so it doesn’t take a lot to throw me off 🫣
A total of SIXTY TWO books did not make the cut so I consider that lots of money saved…

Last night I convinced my hubs to give me another month of audio though because I don’t think I’ll make it through the rest of the Crescent city series without audio… by @minthecar

September reads

I had the best month.
It started out strong with the Playing for keeps series that was just so dang good.
Then I moved on to The Edens that was such a feel-good read. I devoured those two series.

Then I ended the month with cowboys in the Lucky river ranch series and was a bit disappointed by the amount of spice.
This is the second cowboy series that feels kind of spice-driven…
That’s just not my jam. I need intimacy to be deliberate and meaningful. Not every other page and not necessarily all positions possible. So I took a break after the third book and dove into Crescent city.
That turned out to be really hard to eyeball-read so the last few days have been audio or immersive read for me.

October is going to be a continuation of Crescent city and then Acotar 6. That’s about all the plans I’m sure about.
The rest of it, I’m gonna do whatever I feel like. by @minthecar

This is the third book in The Lucky River ranch series and look, I like spice. But this book was basically one spicy scene for the first 20%.
It’s a bit much for me.
I considered putting the book on pause but kept reading and the story picked up just after that.
This series is kind of bland to me though.
It’s not bad, but I’m not really itching to pick it up either..
And yeah, too little plot and too much spice for my liking. Still want to continue the series though.

This is the second book in The Lucky River ranch.
Friends to lovers isn’t my favorite trope so I liked this book for the characters more than the actual plot..
This book made me hate a character I really liked in the previous book so yeah, that annoyed me. I know Americans have a very different view of guns so that whole stunt probably wasn’t a big deal to this author.
But to me, that was crossing a line and ruined that character for me.
But I’m stoked for the next book in the series that has my favorite trope:
Single dad.

This is the first book in the Lucky river ranch series and I really liked this.
I knew I would since I started it a few weeks ago but stopped to wait for the rest of the series so I could binge it.
The relationship moved a little too fast for me but that’s about the only complaint I’ve got so yeah this is a solid 4 āļø for me.

The Eden’s

This series was such a nice reprieve from all the books where authors feel the need to shove every damn trope into their books.
They are fairly simple stories but they’re so good, Devney don’t need to shove a ton of tropes into them.
They hold their own and were so easy to binge, I feel like I’ve watched a really good tv-series.
And the esthetics were done so well that I could almost smell the fresh air and picture the mountains and trails in my head.

Also there’s a maturity to these characters that I really like. They’re grown-ass people with a grown-ass way to deal with things.
So refreshing!

This is my ranking of these books:

1. Juniper hill
2. Sable peak
3. Crimson river
4. Indigo ridge
5. Jasper Vale
6. Garnet flats by @minthecar

Sable peak

I really liked this one. I think it’s my second favorite of the entire series and it really tugged at my heartstrings. Made me cry more than once...
Maybe I like a soft fmc and a kind and patient mmc?
It was a great conclusion to the series and I think I’ll carry this family with me for a long time.

Crimson river

This is the fifth book in The Edens series.
I liked it. Not a lot to say about it other than that.
I finished it in 24h so there’s that.
But it being a romantic suspense and I now know the whole story, I most lightly won’t read it again.
Only one book left in this series!

Jasper Vale

This is the fourth book in The Edens series and I’m unsure how I feel about it…
The cosy family dynamics in the previous books were nowhere to be found in a huge chunk of this book.
The way the family interacted with Eloise and their blatant rudeness towards Jasper irked me.

They got their heads out of their asses by the end of it though and I’m glad. Not sure I would’ve wanted to continue the series otherwise…
