1. God of Wrath by Rina Kent
There are honestly no words for this book or this series. It’s insane. Completely unhinged in the best possible way. And somehow, that particular kind of madness makes me feel… at home? 😂

2. Anathema by Keri Lake
The first gothic fantasy I ever read, and the book that dragged me straight into the darkness. Atmospheric, haunting and beautiful. And Zevander is easily one of my top 3 book boyfriends.

3. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
I don’t think I need to explain this one. If you know, you know. One of only two books that have ever made me cry. 🥹

3 books I recently read 📖

1. In the Wake of the Ruined by Kalie Cassidy
I had been waiting so impatiently for this one, and it lived up to every expectation. Dark, intense and exactly what I wanted.

2 & 3. The Heartstring Duet by Liv Zander

Crown Me Yours & Crown Me Dead.
Heartbreaking, dark and beautifully twisted. I absolutely loved this duet. It wrecked me in the best way. 🥀3 books on my TBR

1. Eldritch by Keri Lake
I’ve been scared to pick this one up because I already know it’s going to consume me. 😂 The sequel to Anathema takes Maevyth and Zevander even deeper into the dark, gothic world of Mortasia. Monsters, curses, madness and darker magic… basically everything I want.

2. Bonded by Thorns by Elizabeth Helen
This has been sitting on my shelf for a while. I’ve heard very mixed opinions, and I’m curious to see where I land.

Why choose romances have only worked for me in certain cases. I struggle when the fmc has feelings for a whole collection of men.
Like… PICK ONE. 😂
But I’m hoping this will be one of the ones that works for me.

3. The Ballad of Falling Dragons by Sarah A. Parker

This one is waiting impatiently for me. 🐉 I absolutely loved When the Moon Hatched, but Sarah A. Parker’s writing is so poetic and immersive that I need the right mindset for this one.
I need time. I need peace. I need to completely disappear into the world.
And honestly… I think I need a reread of book one.
Which three books would you put in each category?

🌸 3-3-3 challenge 🌸

3 books I loved:
📖 Shield of sparrows. It was rather epic. Can't wait for the third book and see where this series is heading.
📖 House of Earth and blood. This one is really special to me since it's the book that got me into this community and got me spending good money on this hobby. And it's also a fantastic book. Can't have a challenge like this and not mention Sarah J Maas.
📖 The suite secret. One of the better books from this year in contemporary romance. Tierney Page is a fenomenal author.

3 books I recently read:
📖 Wolf.E. A dark smalltown romance, book 2 in this series Soldiers of Bedlam. So delicious! You get a lot of spice, banter and a bit of suspense. And a freaking hot man. What more to ask?
📖 The Wolf and the crown of blood. The most recent romantasy I read. A very good one and yet another series I have to see how it will end.
📖 Ryder. A cowboy romance, and from one of my favorite series Lucky river ranch. Five hot cowboy brothers finding their woman in a book each. A must-read if you're in to hot cowboys, smalltown and great lovestories. I really like Jessica Peterson's writing!

3 books on my TBR:
📖 Between tides and thunder. Very curious about this one since it's kind of blowing up bookstagram at least in many accounts I follow. It's said to be worth the wait for crazy plot twist in this one.
📖 Scars beneath a serpent's scales. Really looking forward to read this one too. I like these indie authors so this will be very exciting to jump in to.
📖 In stormy weather. One of this Summer's contemporary romances I'm looking forward to read soon.

This challenge is a mix between romantasy and contemporary romance, because that's what I read the most. Hope I can inspire more of you to pick up any of these😊

Mid-year reading check-in!

@zupbooknerd asked me to show my 5 top-tier books so far this year! (Thank you, love 🖤) I however apperently have decision making-anxiety, so 6 books it is. Where two of them get to represent the whole series, because see reason above.

Chasing Riddick - Alexandra St Pierre
Hellcat - Alexandra St Pierre
Insatiable - Leigh Rivers (the whole series!)
The Arachnid - I.V. Ophelia
Deviant King - Rina Kent (the whole series!)

The Edge of Darkness trilogy by Leigh and the Royal Elite series by Rina just took up, and keep taking up, so much of my brain capacity. I had such a bloody good time (with high af anxiety, I may add) reading them, so they definitely deserve a spot for my highlight of the year.

Two books that were this 🤏 close to making the list and still deserve a mention, because I say so, are:
Tortured Souls - Melissa K Roehrich
The Ballad of Fallen Dragons - Sarah A Parker

So, so close.

I also just reached my reading goal for the year (clap, please), which is a bit insane. But going into 2026, I had just realised I’d entered my first-ever fantasy slump, and was unsure if I would even be able to read much this year. But here we are! I found my way back with some good old-fashioned contemporary dark romance, and it has worked wonders on my soul. Fantasy still has a very special place in my heart, and I still read it, but for now it gets spaced out with contemporary.

Though ngl, it did give me somewhat of an identity crisis realizing my all-time favorite genre just didn’t hit as before. But I’ve since come to terms with it, kind off. I’m sure I’ll find my way back someday.

My physical summer TBR 📚

As per my tradition, this summer is going to be dark. It’s quite nice actually, and I’ve never felt comfortable in the happy vibes of summer anyway.

@zupbooknerd tagged me in showcasing 5 books over 500 pages from my shelves.

As it stands, my average book length over the last two years has been over 500, and I quickly realised that I would have easily managed 7 over 700, but the stack just got way too big tbh, so only five bricks it is.

All of these were read before I bought my Kindle, and worked as both a weapon of choice and a daily workout. Though they should have a warning attached to them, since I at one point dropped ZA on my face while reading in bed. Let's just say I do not recommend.

I was tagged yesterday by Jess (@beingmy_shelf ) to do this black and pink flatlay challenge and boy it was a challenge alright!

The spines on these books are perfectly black and pink but the covers? That's where it changes. I'm not super happy with this one because of the white on some covers but these are the books I have to work with so I made it work 💁🏻‍♀️ it's still a vibe.
