The drone went up, and suddenly the scale of the day made sense.

You could see the ceremony tucked beneath the pines, the dock cutting across the water, the shoreline wrapping around the property, and that classic wooden boat moving through the deep blue of Lake Tahoe.

That’s why I love incorporating drone wedding photography into a gallery. It gives you something the photographs taken from the ground simply can’t: context.
Not just where everyone stood, but where the day happened.

For a Lake Tahoe wedding, that perspective matters even more. So much of what makes getting married here memorable is the landscape itself. The mountains. The water. The towering trees. The feeling that your entire wedding weekend is tucked away from everything else.
And then there’s the movement.

Seeing the boat pull away from above. Watching the water trail behind it. Catching the ceremony setup before guests arrive. Those few seconds of wedding drone footage can hold an entirely different feeling than a traditional clip.

I don’t think drone footage needs to take over a wedding film or gallery. A few intentional moments are enough. Used well, they help tell the bigger story without distracting from the smaller one happening below.

These are the shots that remind you just how beautiful the setting really was.

For couples planning a Lake Tahoe wedding, lakefront wedding, or destination wedding in Lake Tahoe, drone coverage is one of my favorite ways to document the place alongside the people.

And I’m always so grateful when the video team sends over their drone files for me to include in the gallery. Being able to give my couples those additional perspectives makes the final collection feel that much more complete.

Some weddings feel inseparable from the place where they happened. This was one of them.

Alex and Shawn’s celebration felt distinctly Lake Tahoe from beginning to end. The ceremony tucked beneath towering pines. Guests looking toward the water with parasols in hand. Dinner outside as the light shifted through the trees. And, of course, sneaking away for a little time on the lake.

Nothing needed to compete with the setting. The design leaned into it instead: layered greens, organic florals, natural textures, warm lighting, and thoughtful details that felt completely at home along the shoreline.

That’s one of my favorite things about planning a Lake Tahoe wedding. The landscape can do so much of the talking. The best details don’t distract from it; they make the entire experience feel like it belongs there.

Alex and Shawn, thank you for trusting me with a day that felt so wonderfully, unmistakably Tahoe. 🤍
