Obedience doesn't mean there won't be storms.

Here’s to 45. I feel stronger, wiser, & somehow more ready for the days ahead than ever before. It’s been a year of strengthening foundations & I’m ready for what’s next.

Here are my final 15 lessons out of 45.

30 People-pleasing can really hurt you & it starts young. Seek to please God first, not friends, social media, or people whose approval changes by the day. Worry about your character and it will please who really matters ♥️

31 I used to be impressed by gifting. The older I get the more character impresses me. Talent gets my attention but character earns my respect.

32 There is tremendous freedom in realizing you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. Just be faithful with what God puts in your hands.

33 The way people feel after spending time with you matters. Did I make them feel seen & heard? Did I ask about their lives? Or did I spend the whole time talking about myself? I want people to leave my presence feeling valued.

34 People are more important than platforms. Always. (PEOPLE OVER TASK PEOPLE OVER TASK)

35 You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. After a few decades of leading & serving people, I can tell you, I have definitely wished I could make a few people drink. 😂

36 Your kids will remember your presence more than your perfection.

37 Teach your kids to hear God’s voice while they’re young. Watching them begin to recognize His voice for themselves is incredible.

38 You’re raising adults, not just managing children. Keep the person they’re becoming in mind.

39 Teach kids your faith not your fears! (I don’t always succeed at this one!)

40 Don’t let success cost you the people you were supposedly becoming successful for.

41 Make the memories.Take the trip.Celebrate big.Take too many pictures & don’t worry about what people think 😌

42 Protect the honor of the people you love (this one has been a lot more fierce in me these days lol)

43 Your flesh does NOT need to be your Lord!! (An oldie but goodie 😜)

44 If you’re one of my kids u know what this means - Don’t let anyone touch you! 🚫

45 At the end of all of it, I want the people closest to me to say I loved Jesus, I loved people well & I loved my life! by @miriamvfleming

DAY 2 of my birthday weekend continues 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

The next bunch of 15 out of 45 life lessons!
(For those who sit in my leadership classes I know I sound like a broken record 🤣💃🏻)

PEOPLE, RELATIONSHIPS & LEADERSHIP

16. Listen to understand, not just to respond.

17. The people who clap for you in private matter more than the people who clap for you in public. (READ THAT 10 TIMES!)

18. Loving someone well means being careful with their heart.

19. You can forgive someone and still need boundaries. Forgiveness and access are not the same thing.

20. Not every friendship is meant to go with you into every season. That’s ok.

21. Be a fountain not a drain (I know I know…you are sick of this one!)

22. Pay attention to how you feel after spending time with people. Peace, confusion, heaviness, joy - it tells you something. Small circles are kinda chic 😉!

23.. Choose friends who can genuinely celebrate your wins without making them about themselves.

24. Competing with other people is a complete waste of energy. Run your lane. Parents weirdly compete with other parents too. It’s strange. Stop doing that. 😂

25. You don’t honor people only because THEY are honorable. You honor because YOU are honorable. (READ THAT AGAIN!)

26. Confidence is attractive. Know who you are in Christ and stop shrinking to make other people comfortable.

27. Ministry will humble you, stretch you, expose you, and keep teaching you how much you still need Jesus.

28. Serve your local church. Give your time, talent and treasure. Build something that will outlive you.

29. Becareful with offense because it changes your lens. What once blessed you can suddenly become the thing you criticize. It’s actually really sad.

30. The Bible is right (SHOCKER!) What you sow you do reap! So be respectful, honorable, and generous.
