Morfydd Owen: Dilyn Ei Llwybr | In Her Footsteps

On Tuesday we presented Morfydd Owen’s life and works at the @royalacademyofmusic - the very place where she studied and worked (1912-1917). We sang her songs, performed traditional folk music, finished with a hymn, and told her story. Her life ended tragically, but she was by no means a tragic person. I love that so many anecdotes were received with awe and laughter🥰

There’s been so much lovely chat about the project around the building this week - students & staff approaching me to say how thrilled they are to have been introduced to such a kick-ass composer, and existing Morfydd stans sharing their passion for her music with me.💜

I’m beyond grateful to have such talented, and generous colleagues at RAM. DIOLCH O GALON to everyone who gave up their time to take part and made the project so so special. Diolch o galon to my fellow Welshie @glesnisoprano for organising this project alongside me! And diolch o galon to everyone who came to support!!!!!

MEET THE PHILIPS
A couple argue in front of the television — until the television decides it has something to say too.

Meet the Philips takes an ordinary domestic disagreement and follows it until it quietly goes off balance, turning the familiar rhythms of coupledom into something increasingly surreal. What begins as a recognisable clash of habits, frustrations and half-heard words slips into absurdity when the object at the centre of the room stops being a passive witness and joins the conversation.

Funny, strange and sharply observed, the opera plays with the line between intimacy and performance, asking what happens when even the most private tensions suddenly acquire an audience — and a voice of their own.

One of our shows from The Breaking Point, a cycle of four original short operas part of Tête À Tête: The Opera Festival 2026 ( @teteateteopera ), presented at the Cockpit theatre ( @thecockpit ) on the 19th September 2026.

Having a blast at @garsingtonopera with this fantastic bunch! @brunoravella ‘Der Rosenkavalier’ opened last week and I can’t wait to perform in this wacky but wonderful show for the rest of the season! (highlight is of course dressing up as a deranged pregnant woman 🤰)

My last solo stomp of 2025🚶‍♀️!! I never share any of my written stuff on here (ahhh scary!) but thought I’d share something I wrote about these past few beautiful days :)

The fog unfurls itself over the mossy ridge, swallowing the peaks whole.
Down here the ground is sodden and dew-bound as the morning makes itself known.
Only a pair of mere sparrows dare flirt with one another at this hour.

From this smiling, blue veranda time seems to flaunt the luxury of journeying at her leisure, yet -
my evening, not dissimilar to the ones that came before is engulfed without so much as a thought.

With little need to remember the day’s name, I walk and walk and walk alone,
relishing the bird song that smothers all my silence and fear of the unknown.

(Ps everyone go listen to the Joyce DiDonato and Martin Freeman Desert Island Discs, they really got me through the torrential rain of day 2 haha) taken in Queen Charlotte Track by @mirotreharne
