Second day of the Jane Austen Festival! I wore my 'The Other Miss Bennet' outfit to the promenade, and was super happy that I was given a 'dook'. I loved that everyone recognised the outfit, and came to say 'hi'. by @miss.psmith

The Other Bennet Sister's outfit is DONE! 2 weeks before the festival, this is a first. 💪

Most of the sewing is done on machine, top stitching and lining by hand. Buttons on the original are (I think) Dorset buttons, but these are just covered in wool. Keep in mind that it looks a bit wonky on the mannequin, but that is because she is not exactly my size at the top. 🫣

All in all, very pleased and even did a few exercises in it, so hiking should (!) be fine. 😉

Just have to finish the sleeve lining, button holes and buttons tomorrow, and then she is done! I did change the back, as this emergency fabric is a bit too thick for the pleats and gussets in the original, unfortunately. Looking at the weather, I'll probably going to need this. And I can reenact walking in the rain in a silk gown. 🌦

Super annoyed with this 1797 gown. It doesn't line up properly at the back, but after redoing the pleats for days, I gave up and this will have to do. The material is thin and slippery, and i have old lady patience. But...I'm sure when the skirt is in, it will be wonderfully drapey and pretty. 🤞 by @miss.psmith

Drying (inside out) my lovely @burnleyandtrowbridge fabric on the line. Making the most out of this heatwave, whilst I'm sewing inside. I will be turning this into another 1790s gown. by @miss.psmith

And so it begins... I always choose a heatwave to do my @jafestivalbath sewing. But happy to grabbed the #IKEA #Matildacurtains in cotton before they changed them to polyester. 🤢 And of course a quality control cat.
