On May 18, 2025, I graduated from my illustrious institution — Clark Atlanta University. Thee 223, the home of culture for service and finding a way. My alma mater, my home away from home, the birthplace of Black excellence in social work — the first school of social work to offer graduate studies to African Americans. A legacy that now includes me.

This moment took a while to set in. This journey stretched me, challenged me, and shaped me into who I am today. But through every late night and every prayer, I did everything that was meant for me. I finally have my Master’s degree in Social Work, and I am confident that I am making many of my ancestors proud.

And as I close this chapter, I just want to acknowledge, I’m beyond thankful that social work chose me. There is nothing like the Whitney M. Young Jr., School of Social Work. A top-tier educational institution that equipped me with strategy, academic excellence, and fueled my passion for the profession. A historic, selfless, community-centered profession rooted in service, advocacy, and healing, and I am so excited to figure out how I can contribute to the field.
