Two weeks until the new Miss South Carolina Teen Volunteer is crowned 🤭✨👑… this caption is long, but it’s worth the read!I am so incredibly grateful for the journey I have been on through the Volunteer America organization. I have fallen in love with its heart for service, commitment to leadership, and passion for inspiring and empowering others to give back. Being able to make an impact in your community and be part of something bigger than yourself is a gift that has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined.When I first stepped into this organization and became Miss Simpsonville Teen Volunteer a little over a year and a half ago, I never expected this experience to be as meaningful and life-changing as it has been. Looking back, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the people I’ve met, the opportunities I’ve been given, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.When people ask me why I compete, my answer is simple: to use the platform I’ve been given to make a difference through service, volunteerism, and encouraging others. More than anything, I want people to feel seen, valued, and loved. Having a pageant system that aligns so beautifully with those values is something I will never take for granted.As I prepare for what the next couple of weeks will bring and get ready to head to Spartanburg, I am going in with a heart full of gratitude, excitement, and confidence in the journey that has brought me here. The thing that has completely changed my perspective on life is being a part of something bigger than myself through volunteerism with The Salvation Army, an organization I am incredibly grateful to partner with through the Miss Volunteer America Organization.Through serving others, I have learned the true joy of giving back to our local community and using the time we have on this earth for the greater good. Encouraging and supporting those who are walking through life alongside us is one of the greatest gifts we can give.When I look back on all the opportunities I’ve had to serve with The Salvation Army Greenville, I become emotional thinking not only about the lives I may have impacted, but also about how profoundly those experiences have changed me. Service has taught me compassion, gratitude, and the importance of showing up for others, even in the smallest ways.I believe there is a common misconception that pageant contestants only participate in community service for a crown. For me, nothing could be further from the truth. Service and volunteerism are at the heart of why I compete. They were a part of my life long before my pageant journey began, and they will remain a part of my life long after it ends.Serving with The Salvation Army is something I look forward to continuing for the rest of my life. It’s always a good day to stop by @salarmythriftstores864! Today I stopped in to do a little shopping and drop off some donations I’ve been collecting. This is just stop 1 of 2, so if you have items you’d like to donate, reach out and let’s make a difference one item at a time!Over the past year and a half of serving with The Salvation Army, I’ve truly fallen in love with their mission and heart for helping others. One of the many things I admire is their commitment to providing clothing at no cost to individuals seeking assistance and those staying in their men’s and women’s shelters.Supporting organizations that serve our communities is something I’m passionate about, and donating gently used items is such a simple way to make an impact. A full dressing room is my love language! The new fall collection at Lizard Thicket is slowly rolling in, but pieces are flying off the racks! As part of my partnership with Lizard Thicket, I stopped by to pick up a few outfits for the Miss South Carolina Teen Volunteer Competition. If only little Katelyn could see what her love for art has grown into 🥹🎨🖌️When I first started competing in pageants and needed a talent, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. Singing wasn’t my gift, and dancing definitely wasn’t either. But one thing I did know was that I had always loved art.My passion for art began in childhood, especially during the time I spent with my great-grandmother, who was an artist herself. Those moments sparked a love for creativity that continued to grow throughout my childhood and into my teenage years. With every painting my skills improved and my passion deepened.As I prepared for pageants, I knew I wanted to showcase something that was truly a part of who I am. The challenge was figuring out how to share my love for art in only 90 seconds on stage. That’s when speed painting was born for me.I practiced the same painting over and over again until every movement became muscle memory. What started as an idea quickly became one of my favorite parts of pageantry.To this day, I love every opportunity to speed paint, whether it’s on a competition stage or at a community event. It allows me to share a passion that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and to show others the meaningful impact art has had on me.
