Official state preliminary to Miss Volunteer America
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
A week and a half later, and I still don’t think I have found the words for this moment.

Looking through these photos feels almost surreal. I can see the tears, the shock, the smile, and the moment I realized that after four years of competing for this title, I was finally hearing my name called as Miss Kansas Volunteer.

What makes this moment even more emotional is knowing everything that happened before it. The early mornings, the late nights, the disappointments, the lessons, the growth, and all of the times I questioned whether this moment would ever actually happen. Five years of showing up, believing, serving, and refusing to give up brought me right here.

And now, somehow, I get to wear this crown and carry the responsibility that comes with it. I don’t take that lightly. I promise to take care of this organization, this title, and the incredible women who have held it before me. I promise to serve with my whole heart, to honor the legacy of Miss Kansas Volunteer, and to make the most of every opportunity this year brings.

The past week and a half has already been absolutely CRAZY. From stepping into new responsibilities to meeting so many incredible people and beginning this journey, it has all happened so quickly that I haven’t even had time to fully process it.

But when I look at these photos, I am reminded to slow down for a second and take it all in.

And I cannot wait to show you what this year holds. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, stood beside me, encouraged me, and helped me get to this moment. This crown may have been placed on my head that night, but it represents so much more than a title.

Five years later, the dream became real. And now, it’s time to get to work <3

Becoming Miss Kansas Volunteer is a dream I have carried in my heart for four years, and somehow, it is finally real.

There are no words big enough to describe what it feels like to wear this crown and sash. This moment holds four years of hard work, countless hours of service, so many lessons, so many people who believed in me, and a dream that I refused to let go of.

Miss Kansas Volunteer, I promise I will take care of you. I will wear you with pride, serve with intention, and walk with my head held high. I will honor everything this title stands for and pour my whole heart into the year ahead. I will show up, I will serve, I will advocate, and I will never forget the responsibility that comes with wearing this crown.

You are so much more than a title to me. You are a chance to make a difference, to give back to the state I am so proud to represent, and to continue doing the work that has always meant so much to my heart.

After dreaming about this moment for so long, I finally get to say it:

If there is one thing pageantry has given me that I will forever be grateful for, it’s sisterhood.

Somewhere between the rehearsals, the late-night talks, the happy tears, the nervous moments, and the memories we’ve made, pageantry became so much more than a stage, a crown, or a sash. It became a place where I found people who celebrate my wins as if they were their own, hold my hand through the hard moments, and remind me of who I am when I need it most.

Between Miss Kansas Volunteer and the National Sweetheart Pageant, I have found my forever family. A group of women who have taught me that we can all chase our dreams, stand on the same stage, and still be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. We aren’t here to tear each other down. We are here to lift each other up, open doors for one another, celebrate each other’s growth, and remind each other that there is room for all of us to shine. Because at the end of the day, the crown is temporary, but the friendships, the love, and the memories we make along the way are forever.

I walked into this world never knowing just how much it would change my life, and somehow, I found pieces of home in women who once were strangers. Women who have become friends, friends who have become sisters, and sisters who I know will be standing beside me long after the lights go down and the crowns are put away.

To my pageant sisters, thank you for making this journey so much sweeter than I ever could have imagined. Thank you for being my safe place, my biggest supporters, and some of the most beautiful souls I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I will forever be grateful that this crazy, beautiful world of pageantry brought us together.

We may share a stage, but we will always share something so much bigger than a competition. We share a sisterhood, and I will spend the rest of my life being thankful that I found mine. taken in Kansas by @missksvol

Sunday, I had the opportunity to volunteer with Claire’s Community in Lawrence, Kansas, an organization dedicated to preventing domestic violence and educating people about what healthy relationships look like.

Learning more about their mission opened my eyes to a reality that is far more common than many of us realize. Domestic violence doesn’t always look the way we imagine it does. Sometimes, it starts with small behaviors that are mistaken for love, concern, or protection. Sometimes, people don’t even realize they’re in an unhealthy relationship until they’re already in the middle of one.

That is why education matters. Teaching people what healthy love looks like, how to recognize warning signs, and how to build healthy relationships can make a life-changing difference. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and loved without fear.

I am so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from and support an organization doing such important work. This experience reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful way we can help someone is by giving them the knowledge to recognize what they deserve.

When I chose this gown, I knew I wanted it to mean something. The teal was intentional, representing the suicide prevention ribbon and a cause that has forever changed my life. A cause that I have dedicated so much of my heart to, and one that will always remind me of my dad.

But there was something else about this dress that made me fall in love with it. The way it moved reminded me of the ocean, my favorite place in the entire world. The way the waves rise and fall, the way the water catches the light, and the way something can be so breathtakingly beautiful while holding so much power.

And in a way, I think that is what made this gown so special to me. Because grief feels a lot like the ocean. Some days the waves are gentle, and other days they feel impossible to stand against. But even through the strongest storms, there is still beauty, there is still light, and there is still hope.

Walking across that stage in teal meant carrying a piece of my dad with me. It meant honoring the lives we have lost, the battles we cannot always see, and the people who are still fighting to see another tomorrow.

I had such a wonderful time heading to the VFW in Harrington, Kansas, to play bingo! It was so much fun getting to interact with the community, share some laughs, and spend time with such wonderful people. Even more special was getting to see family and make memories together!

One of my favorite parts of being Miss Kansas Volunteer is getting to connect with communities across our beautiful state and being reminded that sometimes the most meaningful moments come from simply showing up, spending time together, and having a little fun!

Thank you for such a wonderful time! I can’t wait for the next adventure! taken in City of Herington, Kansas - Municipal Government by @missksvol

Walking onto that stage and sharing my monologue was one of the scariest things I have ever done. It is one thing to perform, but it is another to stand in front of a room full of people and share the pieces of your story that have shaped who you are.

My monologue is deeply personal. It tells a story of poverty, hardship, losing my dad to suicide, and learning how to find light in the darkest seasons of life. Sharing it meant allowing people to see a part of me that I do not always know how to put into words. I was terrified of becoming emotional, of not being able to get through it, and of being vulnerable in front of so many people. But I knew that if my story could make even one person feel less alone, it was worth every shaky breath and every tear.

Losing my dad changed my life forever, but it also taught me just how important it is to talk about suicide, mental health, and the struggles people carry behind closed doors. Poverty taught me that you never truly know what someone is going through. And my journey has taught me that our hardest chapters do not have to define our endings.

This monologue reminded me that there is power in knowing who you are, recognizing what you are capable of, and having the courage to stand firmly in your truth, even when your voice shakes. You do not have to hide the parts of your story that hurt. Sometimes, those are the very parts that allow you to connect with someone else.

I may never find the perfect words to explain what it meant to share this piece of my heart, but I will always be grateful I did. For my dad, for the little girl I once was, for the people who have felt the weight of similar struggles, and for anyone who needs the reminder that their story still matters.

You never know who needs to hear your story until you find the courage to tell it.

Today, I had the honor of volunteering with Operation Deploy Your Dress!

There is something so special about being part of an organization that helps women feel beautiful and confident while giving back to those who serve our country.

As a military kid, this mission holds an extra special place in my heart. Growing up in a military family gave me an appreciation for the sacrifices military families make, and being able to give back to a community that has been such a big part of my story made today even more meaningful.

From helping someone find the perfect dress to keeping dresses organized and helping clean up the space, I loved getting to be a small part of something that makes such a big difference!

Volunteering has always been something I am passionate about, and I am so grateful for opportunities like this to give back to others! taken in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas by @missksvol

Let’s be honest, walking on stage in a swimsuit can be scary. It takes vulnerability, confidence, and the courage to step outside your comfort zone, even on the days when you don’t feel your most confident. I am SO proud of every person who has the courage to put themselves out there and show up anyway.

Winning the swimsuit preliminary was such a special moment for me, and a reminder that hard work really does pay off. The hours of preparation, the dedication, and the work you put into yourself matter. I’m so incredibly grateful for this moment and the opportunity to celebrate how far I’ve come. Here’s to embracing the scary, trusting the process, and being proud of the person staring back at you in the mirror.
