It’s Giving Tuesday, so if you were thinking of donating towards the Ryan Heighton Resiliency Award but haven’t yet it’s a perfect time to do it!

To add some incentive, we’re going to have a draw for some prizes! Everyone who donates $25+ towards the award between now and December 14 will be entered into a draw. Donations of $25-$49 will get 30 entries into the draw, and donations of $50+ will get 100 entries! We have 3 prizes up for grabs!

#1 - a signed José Berríos @bluejays jersey
#2 - an Excited Macaron Labubu
#3 - a Big Into Energy Labubu

They’re all the rage right now (so I’m told), but who wants to pay $80+ for one? Not me!!

Contribute towards an incredible cause, building an award to financially support students and make post-secondary education more accessible, and win something along the way! Could make a great gift this holiday season, for you or someone else!

The draw will be December 15. You can donate at the link in my bio.

Please share with others who may be interested! Thank you so much in advance, for your support and contributions!

This draw is not affiliated with Meta or Instagram in any way. Canadian residents only. Winners will be contacted directly.

I am constantly on the lookout for tools that can make everyday tasks easier. When I got the Maximum Fixed Trade Knife with Sheath from @thisisbutterly and @canadiantire , I knew just what to do with it.

I had this giant box from my bike trainer (swipe for photo) sitting in my garage forever. It needed to be broken down for recycling and I just couldn’t find the time or energy to tear it apart.

Enter Maximum knife. This knife made this job so easy. It cut through that cardboard with very little effort on my part. Swipe to see a video of it in action, and to see how clean the cuts are. It didn’t need to saw through the cardboard at all - the blade is sharp and leaves a solid edge, making it perfect for hobbies and household needs.

It comes with a hard plastic sheath for safe storage, with an attached clip so it can go onto a belt (or in my case my leggings waistband, where it actually did stay in place). Maximum also offers a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials, and a 1 year warranty on the blade which is always helpful!

I’m happy to have this Maximum Trade Knife on the team of things to simplify my life! I will be making use of this often!

Today was a beautiful day for the @walk2conquer cancer event, raising funds for the @thepmcf . I’m very happy to have been a part of Dee’s Fellowship, walking 21km through Toronto towards a future free from the fear of cancer and honouring Ryan and Dee and so many others.

I’m grateful to have shared this experience with many lovely people, like @veittl @magenta_fiesta @stuart.heggie @liajoeveit @gerryhowlett Maria, Calvin, Sarah, Heather and Verne. I’m grateful I got to see @armkaur5 (we should have gotten a photo!) and to @kdmtrains for coming out to say hello along the way.

I’m super proud of L who walked the whole 21km (save for some key and well-earned piggyback breaks) with a commitment and mindset well beyond his years.

I’m also insanely proud of @musicwithcoffee . Not only did he individually raise over $7500 (a sparkling diamond ambassador) and build an incredible fundraising initiative in @sweetdeescoffee , but his commitment and innovation towards this whole event and its broader cause brought this whole team together. I am the most grateful that I got to share this experience at his side, and that I get to share so many others to come ❤️. Josh, you are my rainbow after the storm.

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported me and everyone else. Our team raised over $27 000! Already looking forward to more accomplishments next year.

The kids were very excited to have the chance to try out the Gabby’s Dollhouse The Movie Cat-venture Crew Pack from @spinmaster . Thanks so much @thisisbutterly for the opportunity!

As usual, Spinmaster has made a quality set of vinyl play figures. Look at this new cat Chumsley! The set comes with four surprise accessories, which all enhance the cuteness of the figures. Look at Cakey’s little chef hat! And Chumsley looks perfect in his little bow tie.

Mercat and Kitty Fairy got a bit of a glow up compared to the older figures we have, with more detailing around their eyes.

My oldest did feel that the set should have CatRat. That was the only constructive feedback offered. They were otherwise very positively received!

The surprise box has a QR code which links to downloading the Gabby’s Dollhouse app. The app provides a lot of fun little games for kids to play while exploring the dollhouse. Perfect for when you need to occupy the kids while waiting in line or if you have to unexpectedly drag them along to an appointment. Swipe to see some screenshots!

The figures are great for open ended, creative pretend play, giving kids the opportunity to let their imaginations fuel their games. They’re durable and well-balanced to allow for lots of play hours. My kids have always enjoyed their Gabby’s Dollhouse figures and they’re happy to expand their play by adding to their collection with new characters, styles, and accessories.

They were already excited for the @gabbysdollhouse movie, and now even more so!

On September 6, 2025 I’ll be participating in the @thepmcf @walk2conquer with @musicwithcoffee and many others as part of Dee’s Fellowship. It’s a 21km walk through Toronto to raise money for the groundbreaking and lifesaving cancer research that the Princess Margaret is doing every day. Every day moving one step closer to world free of the fear of cancer.

I expect this walk to be much flatter than the Fimmvörðuhàls 😂

Today there is a matching event happening, where every $50-$100 donation will be matched! Double the impact! Please consider donating and helping me reach my fundraising goal, and helping people the world over have better prognoses, supports, and treatment options.

You can donate here: https://supportthepmcf.ca/ui/Walk25/p/18c56850b7a14704a23f2d3f1b7d4669

On our last full day In Iceland, we ventured northeast to the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We went to Ólafsvík to go whale watching. We saw minke whales, harbour porpoises, and had an incredible encounter with a sperm whale. We also saw more puffins and guillemots. It was a beautiful day out on the sea.

We found a lovely cafe nearby and enjoyed some coffee outside, surrounded by the scenery.

We also went to Kirkjufell and enjoyed those grounds. @madisonsagirlsname went for an impromptu hike up the mountain until he couldn’t get past a nest of angry birds. He nearly made it to the top though! It was as nice as I remember it.

I tried to capture some pictures from the passenger seat because everything was so lovely and vast. We visited some horses on the way back, because Icelandic horses are beautiful.

When we got home, we ended up going out to a pub close by. Madi owned me at darts. I was only able to compete once @musicwithcoffee and I joined forces, but we still couldn’t best him.

I wish this trip wasn’t coming to an end. by @missmarpleton

This is Part 2, the second half of the hike. It was a very challenging change in terrain and elevation and called on a fortitude I wasn’t expecting to have to use during this hike.

After the bridge across the Skóga River, the ascent between the Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers really begins. Eyjafjallajökull is the volcano that erupted in 2010, spewing so much ash that it grounded flights. The volcano Katla sits under the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.

We crossed multiple patches of glacial snow. We had to freeclimb a ridge where the path seemed to have been taken over by fallen dirt, in order to get up to the next stage. We hiked across the lava fields of the Magni and Móði craters made in the 2010 eruption. We traversed a very narrow cliff’s edge with the help of a chain, and at that point it felt like the whole thing was a stupid risk I never should have undertaken but had no choice. I’m grateful for not falling. We had to navigate some very challenging parts of the valley descent when our bodies were already taxed.

We also took time near the halfway point of the hike to honour Ryan. Iceland was a treasured place for him, and we were fortunate enough to visit it 3 times together - the last time with the girls. We carried him with us throughout the hike. When things felt hard, @musicwithcoffee and I remembered all the things that Ryan and Deirdre had to endure without choice. If they could push, then so could we. I am grateful for sharing this moment and experience with two people who understood its meaning and importance.

It took approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes for us to complete the hike. I said at one point I would be happy to do it under 10 hours. Truly I’m just happy to have done it without blisters popping, but being under 10 is nice too!

It was a sleepy ride on the bus back to Skógafoss, and then we capped the day off with a late trek to Reynisfjara beach in Vík. We saw more puffins and the basalt columns were nearly empty. Midnight Sun is disorienting and glorious.

This is a day I will carry and think about for a very long time. Thank you @musicwithcoffee and @madisonsagirlsname for doing this with me ❤️ taken in Fimmvörðuháls by @missmarpleton
