A post-apocalyptic feeling whilst walking the dogs today. The usually beautiful Llanerchaeron meadow parkland has suffered enough from the heatwaves, and now it is shrouded in a cloud of wildfire smoke that stretches across the whole region. Other walkers had stopped dead in their tracks to look up into the sky at the smoke thickening, at first it looked almost etherial and we thought it was some romantic mist, but it soon became threatening as it got heavier and the smell became detectable. And on my way home, people were driving past me at 4pm with their fog lights on.

Y Felin has had a face lift. Pillarbox paint job and an antique cast iron knocker from Cardigan market. I have been searching for a knocker for about three years and I thought this black lion was beautiful and appropriate for a house in Cymru.

Last session at @rosewoodjewelleryworkshops and managed to finish this off, only started it last week. It was pretty hairy at one point because the labradorite pinged off into the sunset and everyone was just delightful and helped look for it for far too long but alas with no success. And whilst I was having an existential crisis about ruining my final piece and was stress-eating Rose's birthday cake, she casually spotted the sneaky crystal by the door. So low and behold, I had just enough time to finish this baby off and get over myself 🫠

This boy LOVES vehicles. He will do everything he can to get inside them and sleep. Chas has taken to leaving the digger door open as Cobweb howls if he can't go inside. He also sleeps on the tractor seat in the field, and he gets inside cars at any opportunity. Chas even accidentally took him to work once when he left his boot open too long 😨

There's 3 cat beds inside the house, but if it's not a vehicle, it's the old fruit box by the bonfire that was going to be burnt but he turned it into a bed instead, a nest in the long orchard grass, the sofa armrest or the dining room chair.

Last night I finished this multi stone ring in my evening classes with @rosewoodjewelleryworkshops. We have been spending the last few classes working on our own projects.

I found the pink and turquoise sea glass on St Ouens Bay in Jersey and paired them up with a tiny faceted moonstone, all set in silver.

I had wildly underestimated how complicated something like this is to make. And not without "learning experiences" 😉. I snapped one of the bands whilst trying to stretch it, melted through a bezel, made the original bezels in brass and then made them too small so had to start again and chose silver instead, there was also meant to be a bigger moonstone on it but this got snapped off by someone 👀😅 during the final stages. It might not have ended up like my initial vision, but most of my makes haven't, and I am enjoying the organic process of letting something become what it wants to be 🦋. A big thank you to Rose and her endless patience and guidance 🩵.
